The team will be led by Anamul Haque, who has largely been one of the trailblazers for Rajshahi in the 2025 BPL where run-scoring is concerned. His leadership and batting prowess at the top will be crucial for setting the tone at the start.

The experienced Haque has 14 BPL half-centuries. He is well-supported by Mohammad Haris and Sabbir Hossain as the openers. Young Hossain has just over 500 T20 runs. The middle-order stability comes from Yasir Ali and Akbar Ali. The latter will also take charge behind the stumps as the wicketkeeper.

The all-round department is bolstered by Zimbabwean star Ryan Burl and versatile local Sohag Gazi. Burl was one of the few shining lights with the bat against the Dhaka Capitals with 47 not out.

The bowling unit is spearheaded by fiery pacer Taskin Ahmed with his raw pace and aggression. The experienced Shafiul Islam and crafty left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam both bring much-needed experience to the bowling attack.

Pace bowler Shafiul Islam has best bowling figures in T20s of five for 26. The veteran Sunzamul Islam has 38 BPL wickets. SM Meherob adds youthful energy to the side with his part-time overs of off-spin.

The team will rely heavily on the attacking pair of Rony Talukdar and Paul Stirling in the powerplay. Stirling’s vast experience and power-hitting ability make him a key figure in the batting lineup. The Irishman has 441 BPL runs. Promising local talent Zakir Hasan will add stability in the middle order.

Scottish wicketkeeper-batter George Munsey brings an aggressive approach that can swing matches in the team’s favour. The Scotsman slammed an important half-century against Chittagong Kings.

In the middle order, Aaron Jones and Jaker Ali will aim to anchor the innings and up the tempo. Jaker Ali hit a blistering knock of 47 runs not out off 23 balls in an innings which quickly shifted the gears of his side’s innings against Chittagong. Skipper Ariful Haque will need to deal with the pressure of finishing games. The experienced Haque has more than 1000 runs in his BPL career.

The bowling attack looks well-rounded with Tanzim Hasan Sakib leading the pace department and Nahidul Islam offering control with his off-spin. Sakib took two wickets in his previous game. Left-arm spinner Nihaduzzaman and left-arm pacer Ruyel Miah add variety to the attack as bowlers coming from a change of angle.

Nihaduzzaman has 19 BPL wickets and best bowling figures in the competition of four for 17.

This will be the third BPL match on this pitch for this season. The deterioration of the pitch may not be extremely pronounced at this stage, but as more games get played at the venue, the track could slow down further.

The dry and sunny conditions could start to open up cracks from natural wear and tear of the surface. The spinners could be effective on a pitch like this if batters fail to adjust to the pace of play. 165 was the highest target chased at Chattogram in 2024.
