The Rangpur Riders will be looking to get themselves in the top 4 as they face Durdanto Dhaka for match number 12 in the ongoing season of the Bangladesh Premier League. The match will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
This match can be live-streamed on the FanCode App.
With a win and a loss in the two matches so far. Durdanto Dhaka finds itself in the 4th place on the points table. However, these are still early days in the season and the team will need to play better if they want to keep themselves in the top 4.
The batting for Dhaka has been a bit inconsistent and that is something that the team will look to improve before the start of this match. Mohammad Naim got a half-century in their opening match and will look to put up a similar performance in this match.
With Danushka Gunathilaka injuring himself earlier this week, he may be replaced by Lasith Croospulle at the top of the order. There are some quality batsmen in the middle order including skipper Mosaddek Hossain, Saif Hasan, and Irfan Sukkur.
The team will need at least one of them to stay till the end. Coming to the bowling, Shoriful Islam has been excellent with the new ball as well as towards the death. He has picked up 5 wickets and is among the top wicket-takers of the season. He will team up with Taskin Ahmed who has 3 against his name.
The spin department consists of Chaturanga de Silva and Usman Qadir but they haven’t been able to make much of an impact.
Just like their opponents, the Rangpur Riders have been inconsistent so far. With 2 losses in 3 matches, the team seems to be struggling a bit at the moment and will look to get back to winning ways.
Babar Azam and Rony Talukdar are likely to open the batting for the Riders in this match. While Talukdar hasn’t been in the best of forms, Babar Azam looked in good form as he scored a half-century earlier this week. With the likes of Brandon King, Nurul Hasan, and Shamim Hossain coming in to bat in the middle order, the Riders have plenty of firepower to take them to a big score.
The return of Shakib Al-Hasan adds heft to the bowling as well as the batting, and he will join the other two all-rounders, Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai.
The seam attack consists of Ripon Mondal, Hasan Mahmud, and Azmatullah Omarzai, while the spin department will be led by Mahedi Hasan, Shakib, and Nabi.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at Sylhet is well-balanced and offers something for everyone. The new ball moves around a bit and the batsmen will have to get their eye in before they can start playing the big shots. However, once they settle down, the surface does get easier to bat on.
The spinners can get some turn provided they hit the right areas. The team batting first will look to score around 170 runs.
The weather will remain clear with temperatures of below 20 degrees. The dew might be a factor in the second inning.
Both teams haven’t been in the best of forms and will be desperate for a win here. We feel that the Rangpur Riders have an edge in this contest. They have a stronger batting line-up and also some quality all-rounders who can contribute in all departments. On the other hand, Dhaka lacks a quality spin attack and the batting too appears to be out of depth.
Bet on the Rangpur Riders to win.
