Chittagong Kings To Win, 1.80
Dhaka Capitals have been terrible this season and have lost all of their matches
Chittagong Kings seem to be hitting their stride and have one win from two matches this season
Usman Khan is in good form and his presence makes the Kings formidable with the bat
The young Bangladeshi batter is no stranger to runs in this head-to-head. He hit 70 runs off 51 balls when playing for the Chattogram Challengers against Dhaka last season. You can bet on him having another strong performance in this fixture.
This would be a reasonable bet to wager. In their previous innings of the tournament, the Chittagong Kings managed to hit 22 fours. 13 of those alone were off the bat of Usman Khan.
Both teams have match-winners capable of destroying any attack. Usman Khan was one such player when he hammered an incredible century against Durbar Rajshahi for the Chittagong Kings. If they Kings can add a few more contributions from other players in the lineup, they could be a solid unit. The Dhaka side need to find form badly.
Dhaka Capitals and Chittagong Kings have not met yet this season. Both teams opened their season with losses against the Rangpur Riders and Khulna Tigers respectively. Dhaka finished seventh and Chittagong (as the Chattogram Challengers) finished fifth in 2024.
This exciting BPL match between Dhaka Capitals and Chittagong Kings at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium is scheduled for Thursday, 9 January 2025. In India, the live-streaming will be available on the FanCode app.
Thisara Perera’s side is built for aggressive cricket. He has two five-wicket hauls to add to more than 4800 T20 runs. Litton Das is one of the most dependable wicketkeeper-batters in the league. His control of the situation will be complemented by the burst of energy from young Tanzid Hasan.
The young Bangladeshi batter has a T20 high score of 116.
Stephen Eskinazi is expected to play the anchor role if wickets fall early, but is equally capable of upping the run rate. The explosive Shahadat Hossain provides the middle-order firepower needed to change games in quick bursts. The youngster has more than 200 BPL runs, including two half-centuries.
All-rounders Thisara Perera and Shubham Ranjane bring balance with bat and ball. Ranjane has also played Major League Cricket where he has scored 151 runs. Mustafizur Rahman leads the pace lineup. His variations in the death overs are a nightmare for batters.
The experienced Bangladeshi bowler has best bowling figures of six for ten in T20s. Abu Jayed and Alauddin Babu bring reliability and depth to the pace lineup. Spin options in Chaturanga de Silva and Nazmul Islam offer control and wicket-taking ability in the middle overs.
They will look to make the most of their chances on this surface. Sri Lankan de Silva has over 120 T20 wickets.
Opening batters Parvez Hossain Emon and Usman Khan will match up well as a left-hand and right-hand combination. Both bring a steady technique to the table, but are equally adept at hammering the ball over the boundary. Usman Khan, in particular, is in a rich vein of form after he hit 123 runs off 62 balls against Durbar Rajshahi.
Graham Clark is a dynamic English batter with capabilities to play the longer innings if needed. He backed up the efforts of Usman Khan with 40 runs of his own in his previous innings. Mohammad Mithun is an all-round asset as someone who will be required behind the stumps, in tactical decision-making and as a middle-order batter.
The captain blasted a quickfire 28 runs in his last game. The middle-order includes aggressive players like Shamim Hossain and Haider Ali.
Mohammad Wasim is a pace-bowling all-rounder, largely known for his wicket-taking deliveries. The duo of Shoriful Islam and Khaled Ahmed add skill and variation to the pace battery. Al Islam offers off-spin. Veteran spinner Arafat Sunny brings experience and control.
The 38-year-old will be one of the first spinners that Mithun will turn to for wickets. The bowling unit was mightily impressive against Durbar Rajshahi. Arafat Sunny and Al Islam took three wickets each. Shoriful Islam and Mohammad Wasim were equally impressive with their two wickets each.
The team from Chittagong never won a toss at Sylhet in 2024, but they won at the ground by both batting first and second. Neither team may be too dissatisfied with whatever they need to do, but most teams preferred to bowl first in Sylhet last year.
The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium pitch under night conditions generally offers assistance to spinners due to its slowness. The early overs under lights may see the ball skid onto the bat. Dew can influence play by reducing turn and making the outfield quicker. Teams batting second could be at a major advantage. Comilla Victorians scored 130 for eight in 20 overs in the first night game at Sylhet in 2024.
Thursday’s weather will make for the full game to be played out. Temperatures will be warm and quite humid. There is also no chance of rain on matchday.
If last season and the beginning of this season is anything to go by, the Chittagong Kings walk into Sylhet as the favourites for this match. Dhaka suffered a horrific campaign last year and have started poorly this season with three straight losses in Mirpur.
The Kings have had more mixed results with a win and a loss in their first two games. They still appear to be stronger than the Dhaka Capitals in all aspects.
Bet on Chittagong Kings to win this match.
