The pitch at Mirpur isn’t the easiest to bat on. 3 of the last 4 matches played here have seen an aggregate score of 289.5 and we expect that trend to continue.
Litton Das and Imrul Kayes got the Victorians off to a steady start in the season opener. On the other hand, Zadran hasn’t been in the best of forms for the Fortune Barishal. We are therefore backing the Victorians to put up the higher opening partnership.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the 2nd highest run-scorer in the BPL so far. He has scored a total of 2976 runs at an average of 38.15. He is in good form this season too and has scored more than 20 runs in both matches. We are expecting another good inning from him.
The Comilla Victorians will be searching for their first win of the season as they face Fortune Barishal for match number 8 in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. The match will be played at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
This match can be live-streamed on the FanCode App.
The 4-time Champions weren’t off to the best of starts this season as they lost their opening fixture to Durdanto Dhaka. Nevertheless, the team will look to take some positives from that match and turn things around in this match.
The Comilla Victorians have an explosive opening pair in the form of Litton Das and Imrul Kayes. Kayes was particularly impressive in the match against Dhaka as he scored 66 runs. The team will expect a strong start from the duo. Towhid Hridoy is another quality batsman coming in at number 3.
The middle order consists of Jaker Ali, Khushdil Shah, and Mahidul Islam Ankon. Out of them, Khushdil Shah is likely to be the most important player thanks to his all-round abilities. Coming to the bowling, the Victorians have plenty of options, in both, spin and seam.
Mustafizur Rahman hasn’t been in the best of forms recently but did manage to pick up 2 wickets in the season opener. He will lead the pace attack alongside Matthew Forde and Musfik Hasan.
The spin department consists of Roston Chase, Tanvir Islam, and the all-rounders Hridoy and Khushdil.
The Fortune Barishal made a winning start to its campaign but faced a heavy loss against the Khulna Tigers on Monday. As a result, they are placed 4th on the points table.
Skipper Tamim Iqbal is in good form at the top of the order and has got good starts in both his outings. However, the team will expect him to play a big inning in this match. His opening partner Ibrahim Zadran has struggled a bit though.
While there are plenty of talented players in the middle order including Soumya Sarkar, Shoaib Malik, and Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim remains the key batsman for them. Rahim scored a half-century on Monday and will once again play an important role.
The bowling has been a bit inconsistent so far. Mohammad Imran and Khaled Ahmed will lead the attack with the new ball. The duo has picked up 7 wickets between them. The spin attack consists of Dunith Wellalage, Rakibul Hasan, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
The team winning the toss will look to bowl first.
The Shere Bangla Stadium offers a well-balanced track assisting to both, the batsmen as well as the bowlers. The quicker bowlers will get some advantage thanks to the swing of the new ball. The batsmen need to settle down before they can start playing the big shots. While it does get a bit easy to bat during the second inning, a target of over 160 runs will be difficult to chase.
The weather is likely to be clear with no rain. The temperature will remain under 20 degrees Celsius.
There will be some dew during the second half so that is something that will be that the captains will keep in mind during the toss.
We are backing the Fortune Barishal to win this match. While they did lose their latest match, they remain a quality team and have a good balance of players in the sqaud. There is plenty of depth in their batting and some quality all-rounders who provide variety to their bowling.
Bet on the Fortune Barishal to win.
