Caught is the most popular form of dismissal in any cricket match, but don’t be surprised if the first wicket is lost via bowled. With the moving new ball, there will always be the possibility of the seamers beating the bat and disturbing the batter’s stumps. The first wicket in these teams’ previous head-to-head was the loss of Mohammad Mithun to a bowled dismissal.
This is a bet worth going for. Sylhet Strikers scored 205 for four in 20 overs in their first match at Sylhet this season. Despite such a significant total, they only managed to score 11 fours.
The Chittagong Kings have looked as dangerous as they did last year when they met the Sylhet Strikers. That form looks as if it has been transferred to the current season too. The Kings are a side with dangerous match-winners. They will take on a Sylhet side who have struggled, but that has capable players nonetheless.
The two teams have yet to meet this season. They met twice last year. The Kings (as the Chattogram Challengers) beat the Sylhet Strikers by seven and eight wickets respectively.
This BPL match will be between Chittagong Kings and Sylhet Strikers at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday, 13 January 2025. You can catch this exciting clash in India on the FanCode app for live-streaming.

In the spin department, veteran Arafat Sunny and mystery spinner Al Islam bring variety and control. All-rounder Mohammad Wasim adds depth to both batting and bowling. The Pakistani all-rounder has 101 T20 wickets. The experienced Sunny has 17 BPL wickets.
The hard-hitting unit that is Rahkeem Cornwall and Scotland’s George Munsey promise fireworks in the powerplay. In the bowling department, the Strikers have a formidable pace attack led by England’s Reece Topley and experienced campaigner Al-Amin Hossain. Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib adds fresh wicket-taking energy to the pace lineup. Topley and Sakib each grabbed one wicket against the Capitals.
Sylhet Strikers lost their first match at this venue by batting first, despite a significant number of runs on the board. They may opt to bowl first in search of a different result in Sylhet.
With the pitch expected to be dry, the ball may come through to the bat low and slow. The spinners may have some turn on offer on this dry track. Strike rotation will be key in trying to put the spinners off their lines and lengths. Ultimately, the team who plays spin better could dominate in this one.
The pacers may have moments where they are effective, particularly with the new ball, but may need to be smart with variations of pace as the innings progresses. Teams may need to score more than 180 runs to be in with a chance.
This match will feature typical subcontinent weather conditions with it being hot and humid. Overhead conditions will be sunny with no chance of rain.
Based on previous history, the Kings will hold the upper hand after winning two from two against the same opposition in 2024. The Sylhet Strikers urgently need a win to get back to winning ways. The Kings may be too strong for them again.
