Two teams which are struggling with batting are playing this must win match. We don't see this as being high-scoring at all and are happy to bet 'Under' on this one.
This is another bet that we really like. Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder both have been bowled out cheaply in their recent matches. The strong bowling units on both sides should have a good day and end up picking a lot of wickets.
Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder will play the Challenger, a virtual semi-final, as they look to make their way to the BBL Final and play the Hobart Hurricanes. Sydney Thunder have some winning momentum behind them but also have a terrible head-to-head record against the Sydney Sixers. This promises to be another exciting one.
Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder have played against each other in 25 completed matches. They Sydney Sixers have dominated this rivalry with 18 wins to their name including wins in the previous six straight matches.
This match can be watched live on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
The Sydney Sixers were blown away by the fearsome pace bowlers of the Hobart Hurricanes. They now need to regroup and take on the Sydney Thunder, a team whom they have dominated historically. The batting lineup for the Sixers is a bit inconsistent and does not have the depth needed to score massive runs.
Josh Philippe has had a terrible season and Jack Edwards has not done too well at the top either. Krtis Patterson, Jordan SIlk, and Moises Henriques are three players that have to do the heavy lifting of scoring runs.
Ben Dwarshius and Hayden Kerrbowled well in the previous match but it was Jafer Chohan who ended up being the surprise package. Again, the Sydney Sixers do not have the depth that was normally associated with them but we still think they have enough to get past Sydney Thunder.
Sydney Thunder managed to get the better of the Melbourne Stars in the Eliminator on a wicket that was sticky and poor for batters. That will not be the case in this match at the SCG. David Warner, who has been the most important batter for Sydney Thunder this season will lead the lineup and have a lot of responsibility on him.
We don't think his runs have come at a fast enough strike rate and this will only be more apparent in a high-scoring match. Hugh Weibgen, Sam Billings, Matthew Gilkes, and Oliver Davies are all decent batters but that is not a lineup that is going to scare the Sixers.
A couple of early wickets will end up costing Sydney Thunder heavily and we expect them to stick around a par total at best.
Nathan McAndrew picked up five wickets in the previous match and is sure to lead the bowling lineup again. Wes Agar and Tanveer Sangha all bowled admirably with good support from Chris Green and Tom Andrews.
Sydney Thunder's bowling is quite decent and can gives the Sydney Sixers some headaches.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. Getting runs on the board in a must-win match is always an advantage.
Sydney is expected to be a bit cloudy on match day but there is no rain forecast. The pitch at the SCG is generally very good for batting. The ball comes on to the bat in an even manner and allows the batters to hit across the line.
The spinners can have some impoact as the match goes on. A score of around 165 should be seen as par.
We think these are two flawed teams that have managed to putperform expectations in reach so far. The Sydney Sixers are playing at home and have a terrific record against Sydney Thunder. We also think they have a team that is better-balanced and less relient on the performance of a few individuals.
Bet on the Sydney Sixers to win.
