Silk has done a decent job in the middle order for the Sydney Sixers. He has scored 17 or more runs in 3 of his last 4 outings and given the quality of the pitch, he could continue playing well.
Behrendorff has been in excellent form with the ball and is the leading wicket-taker for the Scorchers with 12 wickets. He has picked up at least 2 wickets in 5 of his last 6 games and we are backing him to bowl a good spell here.
The Sydney Sixers will look to reclaim the number 1 slot on the points table as they host the Perth Scorchers at the SCG on Saturday.
The two teams have faced each other in 28 matches to date. The Scorchers have won 17 matches while the Sydney Sixers have won 11.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
The Sydney Sixers has an excellent start to their season as they won 4 matches on the trot. However, they have managed to collect only 1 point from their last 3 games and slipped to the 2nd spot on the table.
James Vince and Josh Phillippe make up a strong opening pair and they are the top two run-getters for the team. Vince struck a half-century in the previous match and looks in good form. However, the middle order, except for Moises Henriques, has lacked consistency.
The Sixers will be happy with the fact that Steve Smith will be available to play a couple of matches before he heads back to his international duties. Smith is likely to replace Kurtis Patterson as he hasn’t had much success in his 3 innings.
The presence of Jack Edwards and Jordan Silk will add depth to the batting. Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, and Hayden Kerr make up for a strong pace attack. But the two spinners, Akeal Hosein and Todd Murphy have remained wicketless in the last couple of games.
The Perth Scorchers are coming into this contest on the back of consecutive losses and have slipped down to the 5th place on the table. As we near the end of the group stages, they will be eager to get back to the top half of the table.
The Scorchers are heavily dependent on Cooper Connolly to score the runs for them. He has scored 2 half-centuries in his 7 innings and remains the team’s leading run-scorer. They are yet to find a stable opening pair and experimented with quite a few players to join Finn Allen.
The middle order is strengthened with the return of Mitchell Marsh who joins Ashton Turner and Nick Hobson. Lance Morris and Jason Behrendorff have been brilliant with the new ball and have picked up 22 wickets between them.
They will be joined by Jhye Richardson. Ashton Agar hasn’t enjoyed much success in the spin department.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the SCG is good to bat on and has seen some high-scoring games this season. While the new ball does offer some assistance to the seamers, there is no alarming movement, and playing shots gets easier as the batsman spends time in the middle.
The team batting first will aim for the 200-run mark. It has been raining in Sydney over the past week and the weather will remain overcast.
There is more rain forecast for the weekend and we may see a shortened match or even an abandoned game.
Both teams have seen a dip in their form and will be eager to set things on the right track by winning this match. We are backing the Sydney Sixers to win this match thanks to a stronger batting unit and a well-rounded bowling attack.
Bet on Sydney Sixers to win.
