Connolly is the leading run-scorer of the tournament and has an average of 68.00 in 6 innings m he has scored at least 22 runs in 5 of his 6 matches and we reckon he will continue to play well.
While the Renegades’ opening pair of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Josh Brown hasn’t been consistent, the openers from Perth have fared worse, putting up single-digit partnerships in 5 of their 6 games. We are, therefore, backing the Renegades here.
The Melbourne Renegades will look to get back to winning ways as they take on Perth Scorchers in a reverse fixture on Tuesday. The match will be played at the Perth Stadium.
The two teams have faced each other in 20 matches to date. The Perth Scorchers have won 16 games while the Renegades have won only 4.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
The Perth Scorchers haven’t been in the best form this year but have done enough to win 3 of the 6 games they have played so far. The team is currently placed 3rd on the points table.
Cooper Connolly continues with his incredible form with the bat and put up another good performance on Friday. He remains the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 272 runs. However, the batting around him has been inconsistent.
Finn Allen has scored 2 half-centuries but has also been dismissed for a duck twice. Similarly, Aaron Hardie and Matthew Hurst haven’t been able to play to their full potential. This will put added pressure on batsmen coming lower down, including Ashton Turner and Nick Hobson.
The inconsistencies continue in the bowling department as well. Jason Behrendorff and Lance Morris have been excellent with the new ball and have picked up 18 wickets between them.
However, Andrew Tye and Matthew Kelly have been expensive and haven’t been able to pick up many wickets.
The Melbourne Renegades enjoyed a good start but their form has seen a dip in the last week. The Renegades are coming into this contest on the back of three consecutive losses and will be desperate for a win here.
A lot of hopes were pinned on Jake Fraser-McGurk, who is known for his explosive batting. However, his failure to get going this season has cost the team quite a few games. This has put added pressure on his opening partner, Josh Brown.
The story continues in the middle order as well. While Tim Seifert has been impressive, Jacob Bethell and Laurie Evans have often struggled against the spinners. The Renegades will have to bat better if they want to win against a tough opponent like the Scorchers.
The bowlers have performed better. Thomas Rogers is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 11 wickets and has received good support from Will Sutherland. Gurinder Sandhu, who is back in the team, started his season with a 3-wicket haul in the Melbourne derby on Saturday.
Adam Zampa has bowled well in patches but more will be expected from him.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch in Perth is usually good to bat on and plenty of runs are scored here. The team batting first will look to score at least 180 runs to give their bowlers a good chance to defend. That said, the flat deck offers plenty of pace and bounce and the quicker bowlers who hit the right spots will be rewarded.
The weather in Perth will remain clear with temperatures of around 25 degrees.
The Perth Scorchers have an excellent record against the Renegades and will be feeling pretty confident as they head to this contest. Also, the Perth Scorchers have a good record at home. The Renegades have struggled to get going in the last week and we feel they will find it hard to win against such a tough opponent.
Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
