The batsmen can go through with their shots here thanks to the good carry. The boundaries here aren’t the longest and with a quick outfield, we are expecting at least one big over.
There is plenty of assistance for the bowlers in this stadium. 4 of the last 5 matches played here have seen 13 or more wickets fall and as both teams have a strong pace attack, we are expecting plenty of wickets to fall in this match as well.
Both, the Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers will look to keep their playoff hopes alive as they face off in their final group-stage match on Saturday. They will play at the Perth Stadium in a day-night encounter.
The two teams have faced each other in 26 matches. The Perth Scorchers have won 14 while the Adelaide Strikers have won 12.
This match can be watched live on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
The Perth Scorchers, who are among the most consistent teams in the league, have been rather inconsistent this year and are coming into this contest on the back of 4 consecutive losses. They are currently placed 7th on the table and their qualification chances look slim even if they win here.
The batting has been a weak link in the Perth Scorchers’ performance this year. While Finn Allen has played a couple of impressive knocks at the top of the order, he hasn’t found the requisite support from his partner.
Similarly, Cooper Connolly has been a consistent performer in the middle order but the others including Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, and Matthew Spoors haven’t been able to convert their starts into big knocks.
The bowlers have performed better in comparison. Jason Behrendorff and Lance Morris have been excellent with the new ball, picking up 27 wickets between them. The team’s pace attack has received a setback as Jhye Richardson is set to miss this game due to an injury.
This could bring Andrew Tye back into the playing XI and Ashton Agar will feature as a spinner
Just like their opponents, the Adelaide Strikers have been inconsistent this and are placed 6th on the table, leading the Scorchers in NRR.
Matthew Short and D’Arcy Short are likely to open the batting for the Strikers in this match. While Matthew has played a couple of excellent innings, D’Arcy Short has been struggling lately and the team will need a solid performance from him.
Alex Ross is the team’s leading run-scorer with 250 runs, while Ollie Pope and Alex Carey have supported him well. The lower order has a couple of all-rounders like Jamie Overton and Harry Manenti.
Overton has been excellent with the bat and the ball, scoring 191 runs and also picking up 11 wickets. He will be joined by Henry Thornton in the pace department, who has picked up 13 wickets.
Lloyd Pope remains the Strikers’ best bowler with 15 wickets.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The Perth Stadium offers one of the fastest and bounciest surfaces in the league. The quicker bowlers will enjoy bowling here as they can get plenty of movement with the new ball. However, any loose deliveries will be punished. The team batting first will look to score over 180 runs. The spinners may get some help in the second half.
The weather will remain clear with temperatures of around 22 degrees.
We are backing the Perth Scorchers to win this match. While they haven’t been in the best of form, they remain a quality side with plenty of matchwinners. Also, playing under home conditions gives them an edge.
Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
