The pitch at the Perth Stadium is excellent to bat on. As both teams have some big hitters of the ball, we are likely to see at least a couple of big overs.
Josh Philippe and James Vince are among the most consistent opening pairs of this season. They are also the top run-getters for their team. Looking at their good form, we are backing them to put up another good stand.
There are plenty of in-form batsmen on both sides. As they are batting on a good surface, we can safely expect at least one of them to play a big inning.
The Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Sixers will be vying for the second spot on the points table as they face each other for their last group-stage fixture. The match will be played on Tuesday at the Perth Stadium.
Both teams have played 27 matches against each other so far. The Scorchers enjoy an advantage here with 17 wins, while the Sydney Sixers have managed to win 10.
This match can be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App or can be watched live on the Star Sports Network.
The defending champions are already through to the playoffs and are currently placed 2nd. However, if they lose this match, they will be pushed to the 3rd spot.
Stevie Eskinazi and Sam Whiteman are likely to open the batting for the Scorchers in this match. While the duo hasn’t been in the best of forms, they are good players and will look to give the team a strong start. The middle-order batting has been one of the highlights for the Scorchers.
Aaron Hardie is the top run-getter with 296 runs and has received excellent support from Laurie Evans and Josh Inglis. Nick Hobson too was in fine form in the last game as he played an excellent cameo on Saturday to lead his team to a win against the Brisbane Heat.
The seamers have done an equally brilliant job with the new ball as well as during the death overs. Lance Morris is the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets and is well supported by Andrew Tye and Jason Behrendorff.
The spin attack does seem a bit of a weakness as Cooper Connolly and Ashton Agar have managed to pick up just 10 wickets between them.
The Sydney Sixers are coming into this contest on the back-to-back wins and have climbed to the 3rd place. The team will look to continue with the winning momentum and finish in second place to get two shots at the finale.
James Vince and Josh Philippe have been pretty good as an opening pair and have given the team many strong starts. Vince is also the leading run-getter for the team season. Similarly, Daniel Hughes and Jordan Silk have been consistent in the middle order and the team will need at least one of them to play a big inning in this crucial match.
However, the batting lower down hasn’t been so good. Moises Henriques and Jack Edwards haven’t been able to make a big score till now, and have been unable to give the team a strong finish with the bat. Nevertheless, Edwards has done well with the ball and is the joint-highest wicket-taker with Ben Dwarshuis.
Sean Abbott has given them good support picking 6 wickets, while Steve OKeefe too has 6 against his name.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at Perth is excellent to bat on. There is plenty of pace and bounce on offer, allowing the batsmen to play their shots and score some brisk runs. That said, the quicker bowlers who bowl a good line and length will be rewarded. The pitch does get a bit two-paced as the match progresses and gets difficult to bat on. The average first-inning score on this ground is around 180. The weather in Perth is expected to be clear with temperatures of over 25 degrees Celsius.
As this is the last group-stage match for both teams and with an extra shot at making it to the finals on the line, we can expect a close fight in this match. We think that the Perth Scorchers are the favorites to win here as they have a strong pace attack and an in-form middle-order batting.
The Sixers are over-reliant on the opening pair to score runs and their failure to do so can cost the team the match.
Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
