The pitch at the Docklands Stadium isn’t the easiest to bowl on. None of the last six matches played here have seen more than 13 wickets fall, and we expect that trend to continue.
Allen isn’t in the best of form this year. He has been dismissed for single-digit scores in both his innings. This is the first time he is playing in the BBL, and he will likely take some time to find his form.
The Perth Scorchers will look to get back to winning ways on Monday when they take on the Melbourne Renegades at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.
To date, the two teams have played 19 matches. The Scorchers have won 16, while the Renegades have won only 3.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch it live on the Star Sports Network.
The Melbourne Renegades come into this contest with a thumping victory over the Hobart Hurricanes and will be feeling pretty confident.
The Renegades have a potent pace attack comprising Kane Richardson, Fergus O Neill, Will Sutherland, and Tom Rogers. O Neill, Sutherland, and Rogers picked up 3 wickets each in the last match and ran through the Hurricanes’ batting line-up in a jiffy.
Adam Zampa, arguably among the best spinners in the league, will bowl during the middle overs and try to keep the run rate under check.
Coming to the batting, a lot will depend on the opening pair of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Josh Brown. They are both capable of playing the big shots and will look to score briskly during the Powerplay.
Laurie Evans and Mackenzie Harvey are solid performers in the middle order while Jacob Bethell adds depth to the batting.
The Perth Scorchers received an 8-wicket drubbing from the Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday and have slipped to the 4th spot on the points table. Nevertheless, these are early days in the tournament, and they will bounce back soon.
Finn Allen and Keaton Jennings are likely to open the batting for the Scorchers in this match. While Allen hasn’t been in the best of forms, Jennings got a good start in the previous game and the team will expect him to score some runs during the first few overs.
The batting lineup has received a big boost with the inclusion of Josh Inglis in the XI. He will be joined by Matthew Hurst and Nick Hobson. The team also has two capable all-rounders, Cooper Connolly and Ashton Turner.
With Jhye Richardson finding a place in the Test squad, he could be replaced by Andrew Tye who will join Jason Behrendorff and Lance Morris in the pace department. Ashton Agar has picked up only 1 wicket so far but is likely to retain his place.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the Docklands Stadium offers excellent pace and bounce. While the new ball will see some movement off the seam, once the batsmen settle down, playing the shots will be easy. The average first-inning score here is around 165. The spinners will see some spin as the ball gets softer and older.
The weather in Melbourne is likely to remain overcast and there may be some interruptions due to rain.
The temperature will remain around 15 degrees.
The Renegades were clinical in their previous outing and will look to put up a similar performance in this match as well. However, their record against the Perth Scorchers isn’t the best. The latter have a strong top order and a couple of solid all-rounders. Also, their pace attack is among the strongest in the league.
Bet on Perth Scorchers to win.
