Fraser-McGurk hasn’t been in the best of forms this year and is averaging just over 10 runs in his 9 innings. He has scored 16 or more runs just once in his last 5 innings and we are expecting his poor run to continue
The pitch at the Docklands Stadium is good to bat on. Each of the last 4 matches played here has seen an individual score of 63 or higher and we are expecting that trend to continue.
Both, Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat will be playing to keep their qualification hopes alive as they face each other in their last group-stage match on Saturday at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.
The two teams have faced each other in 21 matches. The Renegades have won 13 while Brisbane has won 8.
This match can be watched live on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
The Melbourne Renegades finished 7th in the last season and are at the risk of earning a wooden spoon this time around as they play their last match. With 6 points, they are at the bottom of the points table and a loss here will end their campaign.
Even if they do win, the Renegades will have to depend on the results of other matches if they were to qualify.
The batting has been a big disappointment for the Renegades this year. Josh Brown and Marcus Harris have opened the batting for the team in a couple of games but have been unable to give the team a good start.
Jake Fraser-McGurk has been another disappointment as he has averaged just over 10 runs in his 9 innings. The only meaningful contributions have come from Tim Seifert and Will Sutherland. Jacob Bethell scored a half-century in the last match and seems to have regained some of his form.
The bowlers have fared better in comparison. Tom Rogers is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 16 wickets, while Fergus O Neill and Will Sutherland have picked up 16 between them. Adam Zampa is the Renegades’ most successful spinner with 10 wickets.
The reigning champions have been unable to continue their form from last season and are on the verge of elimination this year. With just 3 points from the last 7 matches, the team has slipped to the 5th spot with the worst NRR among all teams and a place in the playoffs looks highly unlikely.
The return of Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja did boost the team’s batting prowess on Thursday as they posted 201 runs but the bowling proved to be a weak link as the team was unable to defend this total against the Hurricanes.
As the duo departs for international duties, all eyes will be on Max Bryant and Matthew Renshaw, who are the team’s leading run-scorers for the season. Nathan McSweeney has played a couple of good knocks while the others have struggled to get going.
The bowling has been average too. Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson have picked up 11 wickets each but have been expensive at times. The spinners have struggled throughout the season.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the Docklands Stadium is balanced and offers a good contest between the bat and the ball. The fast bowlers will get some help early in the match but as the game progresses, it gets easier to bat. A score of around 170 is a par score on this ground. The spinners will have to be good with their line and length or they might be taken for runs.
The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures of around 25 degrees.
While both teams have been inconsistent this year, we feel Brisbane has a better chance of winning thanks to a stronger pace attack. It also has a strong head-to-head record against the Renegades in recent times.
Bet on the Brisbane Heat to win.
