The bowlers can expect some help at this venue provided they bowl a good line and length. At least 14 wickets have fallen in each of the last 3 BBL matches played here, and we expect the trend to continue.
D’Arcy Short is one of the most consistent batsmen in the BBL. He has scored 3010 runs in his career at an average of 35.41. He has scored 447 runs against Brisbane at an average of 49.66, including 3 half-centuries and a century. Seeing his record, Short is likely to play a good knock here.
Brisbane Heat will look to keep up its winning momentum as it faces the Adelaide Strikers this weekend in the ongoing Big Bash League. The game will be played on Sunday at the Brisbane Stadium.
The two teams have faced each other in 19 matches so far. Brisbane Heat won 10 while Adelaide won 9.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch it live on the Star Sports Network.
The title-winning franchise began its latest campaign in style on Wednesday, defeating the Melbourne Stars comprehensively.
Despite missing some key players, Brisbane has plenty of talent at its disposal and hardly broke a sweat as it chased down a big total. Jack Wood and Jimmy Peirson make up for a strong opening pair and they put together a 55-run partnership to set the tone for a successful chase.
Peirson struck a half-century and appeared to be in fine form. The middle order has some established batsmen like Matt Renshaw and Max Bryant, while the crowd favorite from last season, Paul Walter retains his place as an all-rounder.
The home team has a strong pace attack that will be led by Mitchell Swepson and Xavier Bartlett, with Tom Whitney coming in as the first change, while Matthew Kuhnemann is the specialist spinner.
The Adelaide Strikers made a smart comeback on Friday, defeating the Melbourne Stars to earn their first points of the season.
With D’Arcy Short and Ollie Pope back in the playing XI, the Strikers have a lot of firepower in their batting unit. Matthew Short and Jake Weatherald continue to open the batting. The duo has got a couple of good starts but they will need to stay till at least 6 overs to make a meaningful contribution.
With Fabian Allen set to miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury, the Strikers have replaced him with Liam Scott, who not only adds depth to the batting but is also a handy seam option. Talking about the seam attack, Henry Thornton and Jamie Overton will lead the attack with the new ball.
Lloyd Pope and Matthew Short bowled an excellent spell on Friday to pick up 5 wickets between them and will feature in the spin attack.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at The Gabba is good to bat on during the first half. There is a good amount of bounce and pace that allows the batsmen to play their shots. That said, the new ball will swing and there is some movement off the pitch. The average first-inning score here is close to 170. During the second half, the surface slows down a bit, helping spinners.
The weather will be clear with temperatures of around 25 degrees.
Brisbane and Adelaide are among the strongest teams in the league and we are expecting a close contest between them. While there is no clear favorite, we are backing Adelaide Strikers to win here thanks to a strong top order and a balanced bowling attack.
Bet on Adelaide Strikers to win.
