Just 2 of the last 9 BBL matches played here have seen 14 or more wickets fall. As the pitch here is good to bat on, we are expecting that trend to continue.
Matthew Short is one of the most consistent batsmen in the Strikers team. He has scored 50+ runs in each of his last two innings. He has also scored 233 runs against the Sixers, including 2 half-centuries and we are backing him to play well here.
The Sydney Sixers will look to book their place in the playoffs as they travel to Adelaide for a midweek clash against the Strikers. The two teams will play at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.
The two teams have faced each other in 20 matches. The Sixers have won 13 while the Strikers have won 7.
This match can be watched live on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
With only 3 wins in 8 matches, the Adelaide Strikers are struggling at the moment. They are currently placed 7th on the points table and must win here to remain in the race for the playoffs.
On a positive note, the Strikers are coming into this contest on the back of a massive win against Brisbane Heat. Matthew Short, who was back on the field after recovering from an injury, scored a brilliant century to propel his team to a match-winning score.
Short is one of the best batsmen in the league and his return will boost the team’s spirits. In addition to Matthew Short, the Strikers have two big hitters, Chris Lynn and D’Arcy Short, both of whom are capable of taking on the bowlers.
However, the likes of Jamie Overton and Ollie Pope haven’t been in the best of forms. Overton has done well with the ball though, picking up 9 wickets, and has given good support to Henry Thornton. Lloyd Pope is the team’s leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets.
After losing a couple of matches, the Sydney Sixers were back to winning ways as they defeated the Perth Scorchers on Saturday. They have reclaimed the top spot on the points table and another win here will take them through to the playoffs.
Steve Smith, who played his first match of the season on Saturday, played a blazing knock of 121 runs and looks in excellent form. He will play an important role at the top of the order along with Josh Philippe.
With James Vince unavailable for selection, the team has lost some of its batting depth, which puts added pressure on Moises Henriques, Kurtis Patterson, and Jordan Silk. Sean Abbott bowled a brilliant spell in the last match to pick up 4 wickets.
He will open the bowling with the new ball along with Ben Dwarshuis while Joel Davies comes in as the first change. The spinners haven’t had much success so far.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the Adelaide Oval is good to bat in and has hosted some high-scoring matches this season. The surface is flat and the ball comes onto the bat, and timing the ball is easy. The team batting first will aim for the 200-run mark. The seamers who pitch the ball in the right areas will get some help.
The weather will remain cloudy with temperatures of around 21 degrees.
We are backing the Sydney Sixers to win this match. They have been clinical in their performance so far and are among the most consistent teams this season. The Strikers on the other hand have plenty of things to improve and might find it difficult to bounce back.
Bet on the Sydney Sixers to win.
