The Strikers will go into this match in the wake of four successive defeats to the Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars and Scorchers. They are at the bottom of the standings and desparately need a win if they want to remain in contention for a play-off berth.
Matthew Short and Chris Lynn have emerged as Adelaide's leading run-scorers this season. Short has hit 275 in five innings to Lynn's 217 in five. Both are striking at more than 150 per 100 deliveries. D'Arcy Short has weighed in with 154 runs, but really, Adelaide need other batters contributing bigger numbers as well.
Bowling-wise, England recruits David Payne and Jamie Overton have been at the fore of Adelaide's wicket-taking exploits. Payne's six wickets have complemented Overton's eight. Matthew Short and Cameron Boyce are the Strikers' leading spinners with three wickets each.
Victory here could catapult the Strikers from eighth to fifth position in the standings, but they will be hard pressed against a Scorchers outfit they lost to recently. As one of the best all-rounders in the tournament, Matthew Short could be key to Adelaide's ambition here.

Perth Scorchers
The Scorchers haven't been beaten this BBL season. They will head into this match on the back of four consecutive wins over the Melbourne Stars, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades and Strikers. They have plenty of momentum and are chasing top spot on the points table.
Aaron Hardie has more than 100 runs than any other Perth batter this season. He has been their standout performer en route to 216 runs in five innings. Josh Inglis and Laurie Evans have provided support with 109 runs in just two innings. His arrival to the Scorchers' XI has been impressive.
