Shai Hope has a good record at Basseterre and has scored half-centuries in both his matches here. He has an average of 72.00 against Bangladesh and has scored 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries in his last 10 innings against them.
The pitch at Warner Park isn’t the easiest to pick wickets as once a batsman settles down, it gets difficult to get him out. None of the last 4 ODIs played here have seen more than 15 wickets fall and we are expecting the trend to continue.
After winning the 1st ODI, the West Indies will look to clinch the series as it faces Bangladesh for the 2nd match on Tuesday. The game will be played at Warner Park in Basseterre.
The two teams have faced each other in 45 matches to date. The West Indies won 22 while Bangladesh won 21. 2 ended without any result.

The West Indies put up a good performance on Sunday to claim an early advantage in the 3-match series. They will now head into this contest with plenty of confidence.
While the opening pair of Brandon King and Evin Lewis didn’t give the team the best of starts, the middle order stood up to the task and ensured a smooth win for the hosts. That said, the West Indies is unlikely to change the opening pair.
Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford were fluent in their batting. The latter scored his first international century and his partnership of 99 runs was instrumental in helping his team chase down a stiff target. With Keacy Carty, Justin Greaves, and Roston Chase coming in lower down, there is plenty of depth in their batting.
While the seamers picked up all the wickets on Sunday, they were very expensive and must be disciplined with their line and length. Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Romario Shepherd continue to lead the pace attack while Gudakesh Motie and Roston Chase are the two spinners.
Bangladesh batted well to put up a par score but in the end, they were unable to defend it and will need to play better here.
Despite missing some key players, Bangladesh batted well to put up a good total. Tanzid Hasan has been a decent performer at the top of the order and scored a half-century in the previous match as well.
However, more will be expected from Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar, who are among the most experienced batsmen in the squad as they were dismissed cheaply.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahmudullah, and Jaker Ali, all put up a good show and the visitors have a strong batting unit.
The bowling department does look a bit underpowered in the absence of Mustafizur Rahman. As the pitch at Warner Park did help the seamers, Bangladesh might be tempted to include either Shoriful Islam or Hasan Mahmud.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The surface at Warner Park is flat and hard and has an even covering of grass. The seamers can expect help with the new ball and there will be some swing as well. The slower bowlers will have to work hard to get their wickets. The ground isn’t the biggest and playing the shots will get easier once a batsman settles in.
A score of around 290-300 is a par score. The weather will be humid with temperatures of under 30 degrees.
We witnessed an exciting contest on Sunday and looking at the way both teams played, the 2nd ODI will be no different. While Bangladesh is expected to put up a good fight, the West Indies might just end up on top. The stronger batting unit, bowlers who are more likely to pick up wickets, and familiarity with the conditions gives the West Indies a big advantage.
