The pitch at Kanpur is good to bat on and there is little help for the bowlers. Playing the shots will be easier for the batsmen and we expect the team batting first to get a good start.
India has historically performed well against Bangladesh, winning 5 of its last 13 matches against them by an innings. Given the conditions in Kanpur, there is a good chance that the hosts will repeat that feat.
India To Win the Match, 1.50
Having already won the first match, India will look for a clean sweep as it faces Bangladesh for the 2nd and final test match starting Friday. The game will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
Both teams have played 14 matches against each other to date. India won 12 of those matches, while 2 matches ended in a draw.
This match will be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App. One can also watch this match live on the Sports 18 Network.
India was clinical in its performance during the first Test match and hardly broke a sweat as it defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs. The team has settled into a good rhythm and will look to continue with the winning momentum.
The hosts have retained the same squad for the second Test as well. While the form of the senior batsmen of the team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remains a bit of a concern, the younger players including Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are in top form. Rishabh Pant, who was playing international red-ball cricket after almost 2 years announced his return with a century.
India has a strong middle order that is up for any challenge. All-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are in good form as well, providing plenty of depth to the batting. Given the fact that the pitch in Kanpur is slower, we may see an additional spinner in the form of Kuldeep Yadav or Axar Pate.
That will mostly leave Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj as the two seamers.
Bangladesh will be disappointed with the way they played at the Chepauk stadium, especially after they scalped 3 Indian wickets in the first 10 overs of day 1. They had an excellent chance of gaining a first-inning lead but that wasn’t meant to happen, thanks to a masterclass from Ravi Ashwin and Jadeja.
The batting was a big letdown for the visitors and that is something that they would hope to improve ahead of this crucial match. Except for Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 82 runs in the second innings, none of the batsmen were able to leave an impact. More will be expected from the opening pair of Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan, as well as the middle order consisting of Mominul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Litton Das. Shakib Al-Hasan picked up an injury on the 4th day in Chennai and details regarding his availability are awaited. Like India, Bangladesh too could go with 3 spinners in this match. Nahid Rana could be dropped and will most likely be replaced by Taijul Islam. Bangladesh also has another spinner in the form of Nayeem Hasan who is available for selection.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at Kanpur is made up of black soil and is much flatter compared to the surface in Chennai. The bounce will be lower and the pitch is a bit slow as well. There isn’t much help for the bowlers, especially the seamers. The average first-inning score here is around 370, and we can expect another high-scoring match.
However, as the pitch gets progressively slower, anything over 180-200 will be difficult to chase in the 4th innings.
There is a forecast of rain and thunderstorms for the first 3 days and we may see some interruptions due to the same.
India has been one of the best teams across formats in recent months and we expect them to continue playing well. Bangladesh on the other hand has plenty of work to do, especially when it comes to batting. As a result, we expect the hosts to win this one.
