Hridoy has been a consistent performer for Bangladesh in the shortest format. He is averaging 27.59 in his career. Hridoy has scored at least 25 runs in 5 of his last 9 innings and we are expecting him to play a good knock here.
Arshdeep Singh is expected to lead India’s pace attack in the absence of Bumrah and Siraj. He has a good record against Bangladesh, picking up at least 2 wickets in 2 of his 3 appearances against them. He has also picked up at least 2 wickets in 7 of his last 8 T20I matches.
India To Win the Match, 1.03
After a thumping win in the 2-match Test series, India will look to make a winning start to the T20 series, and they will face Bangladesh for the first of the 3-match affair on Sunday. The match will be played at the New Madhavrao Scindia Stadium in Gwalior.
The two teams have faced each other in 14 matches to date. India won 13 games, while Bangladesh managed to win only 1.
This match will be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema app. One can also watch it live on the Sports 18 Network.
India has named a fresh squad for this series, resting some of the senior players. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj have been omitted to make way for the youngsters.
Suryakumar Yadav will lead the young squad and will, as usual, be the key player in the middle order. Yadav’s ability to play the big shots around the ground makes him indispensable, especially during the death overs. Abhishek Sharma makes a comeback as well, and will likely open the batting alongside Sanju Samson, who may be the first-choice wicketkeeper ahead of Jitesh Sharma.
Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, and Shivam Dube are the other batsmen who are likely to feature in the middle order.
India has included 3 uncapped players, Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. While the former two can add heft to the pace attack alongside Arshdeep Singh, Reddy is a dependable all-rounder.
Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakaravarthy are the two full-time spinners who are available for selection. Mayank Yadav is returning from injury but his express pace is something that everyone is excited to see.
While India has a relatively younger team for this match, all of these players are world-class and proven IPL performers. They should take to international cricket without any trouble and in most cases, they already have.
After facing huge losses in the Test series, the visitors will be eager to turn things around in the shortest format and look to gain an early advantage against a relatively inexperienced Indian side.
Just like India, Bangladesh too has seen quite a few changes in its squad ahead of this match. The biggest of them is the absence of Shakib Al-Hasan, who has announced his retirement from the format. He has been replaced by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who played his last T20I more than a year ago.
The other fresh faces include Parvez Hossain, who is likely to open the batting, and Rakibul Hasan, who is a quality left-arm spinner. Mahmudullah, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Towhid Hridoy all retain their place in the batting line-up.
The pace attack is relatively unchanged as well, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam, and Taskin Ahmed all retaining their spot.
Bangladesh has played better in the last few months, irrespective of the format. A T20 match gives them a better opportunity of springing a surprise on India than the Test format. Whether they are able to do so or not remains to be seen but we definitely think they are not as bad as the odds make it seem.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
This is the first international match that will be hosted at the newly constructed Madhavrao Scindia Stadium so not much is known about the surface. However, we expect the pitch to help the batsmen. The pitch is likely to be flat and hard, providing good bounce. The spinners are likely to get some help as well if they bowl the right line and length.
The weather is expected to be clear with temperatures of between 25 and 30 degrees.
ndia starts this match as the favorite to win. While the returns on offer for India are pretty small, it is not worth risking a punt on Bangladesh. The hosts have a well-balanced squad with plenty of all-rounders and should prevail here.
Bet on India to win.
