This should be an interesting bet. If key players from the English batting lineup get going, they can put the home side under pressure with regular boundaries. When England Women visited Adelaide for the first Women’s T20I against Australia Women in 2022 they hit 16 fours.
The Australians managed a score of 47 for one in their powerplay of the first Women’s T20I. Their strong batting lineup may take advantage of the powerplay again. This is a reasonable bet.
The home team have run rampant in their results against their visitors this Women’s Ashes. The Australian Women have looked almost unstoppable in both white-ball formats. They look like they are on course to another win in the final Women’s T20I series. England Women will need to show more than just glimpses of good cricket.
The Australia Women have gone two-nil up in this Women’s T20I series to take an unassailable lead. In the last five Women’s T20Is between the teams, the home side have won three times compared to the two wins of their visitors.
This will be the third and final Women’s T20I between Australia Women and England Women to round off the white-ball matches in this Women’s Ashes. The match will take place on Saturday, 25 January 2025 at Adelaide Oval. Follow this match in India on the Star Sports Network TV broadcast or the Disney+ Hotstar app live-stream.
Opener Georgia Voll is a promising young batter with her aggressive style. Young Voll has more than 1000 runs in domestic T20 cricket. Accompanying Voll is Beth Mooney, one of the most experienced players in the side. The wicketkeeper-batter hit 44 runs in the penultimate Women’s T20I of the series.
Phoebe Litchfield is another exciting young prospect who complements the openers with elegant strokeplay.
Ellyse Perry is one of the best women’s all-rounders to grace the Women’s Ashes and arguably, the women’s game in its entirety. Annabel Sutherland provides a similar dynamic to Perry in being a multi-skilled cricketer with bat and ball. She has 15 wickets in her last ten Women’s T20Is.
Captain Tahlia McGrath is a natural leader as another key all-rounder in the side. Grace Harris and McGrath's 71-run partnership in the previous match is Australia Women's highest for the sixth wicket in Women’s T20Is.
The fast-bowling attack is spearheaded by the experienced Megan Schutt as a prolific wicket-taker with a knack for breaking key partnerships. She took two wickets in Canberra. Kim Garth and Alana King offer variation and guile.
The former's pace and the latter's leg-spin poses different challenges for opposing batters. King has best bowling figures of five for 16 in the Women’s Big Bash League.
Maia Bouchier is an exciting young talent in the England Women's team with her aggression and ability to take the game away from the opposition from the beginning of the match. Danielle Wyatt-Hodge is a seasoned campaigner with experience and firepower in the top order. She played a classy half-century in her previous match.
Sophia Dunkley has the power game that would be expected of a top-class T20 batter and has made valuable knocks in the past. Her cameo of 32 off 22 in her previous innings proved that.
Nat Sciver-Brunt is one of the most destructive batters in the world. As a bowler, she is a more than capable fast bowler on the bouncy pitches in Australia. Heather Knight leads the side with her calm and composed presence. She will make a handy contribution with the bat. In the previous Women’s T20I, she scored a blistering 43 runs off 19 balls before rain halted play.
Amy Jones provides a safe pair of hands behind the stumps and is a batter who will be effective in adding runs quickly at the death. She has more than 1500 Women’s T20I runs.
The bowling attack boasts a good mix of pace and spin. Sophie Ecclestone's left-arm spin is up there with the best in the world across all three formats. In Australian conditions she has taken 31 wickets in the Women’s Big Bash League.
Sarah Glenn’s leg-spin will be threatening from the other end too. Charlie Dean will turn the ball the other way as a right-arm off-spinner. She took two wickets in the game at Canberra. Lauren Bell's pace could beat the bat often enough to build pressure.
Young Freya Kemp offers the left-arm angle as a variation to Bell. The left-armer has a wicket in each of her last three matches.
The previous Women’s T20I at Adelaide Oval was washed out, but with a toss. Home captain Meg Lanning won that toss and elected to bowl first. Both captains may want to take the same route for this game.
The Adelaide Oval pitch should be balanced between assistance for batting and bowling. The fast bowlers will enjoy the extra bounce in this pitch. Equally, the batters can use this to their advantage in riding the bounce and using it to score boundaries. The pitch may be a tad slower than normal because of the amount of cricket that has been played at the ground this season.
The spinners may have a slight bit of turn to work with. Australia Women chased a target of 170 inside 17 overs against their Women’s Ashes rivals at Adelaide in 2022.
There is only a five percent chance of rain on Saturday. The players will need to contend with humidity and extremely hot temperatures of almost 30 degrees Celsius at night.
The Australian Women have shown no mercy to the English on this tour so far. That momentum may continue into the third Women’s T20I at Adelaide Oval. The last time England Women beat Australia Women in a Women’s T20I at Adelaide was as far back as 2011.
The home team will be firm favorites to close off the Women’s T20I series with a victory.
Bet on Australia Women to win this match.
