The Afghanistan batting was in top form in the second game of the ODI series, unlike their Zim counterparts. This is one of the best value bets available and we recommend going as big as you can.
The Afghanistan bowling attack was on point in the last game, as they destroyed the Zim batting order for 54 runs. They have a lot more talent in their squad and we think they are going to end up dominating once more.
Afghanistan handed the Zimbabwe team a massive drubbing in the second ODI of the series to take an early 1-0 lead. The third and last game of the ODI series will be conducted at the Harare Sports Club venue in Harare, Zimbabwe, on December 21st, 2024. Zim will need to win this contest to level the series. Let's examine this contest's match preview, betting tips, pitch report, and match prediction.
The men's teams of Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have played each other in 29 ODI games. In the last match, the Afghans extended their lead to 19-10.
This ODI series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will not be available to Indian sports fans on TV. However, they can enjoy the contest live on the FanCode website and app.
The second game of the series was a complete debacle for the Zimbabwean team. Not only did they allow the opposition to raise a good score, but they also completely lost the plot while chasing this target. They were bowled out for 54 runs and lost the game by a massive margin of 232 runs.
In the last match against Afghanistan played earlier today, Newman Nyamhuri emerged as the top bowler with a three-wicket haul from his ten overs. Trevor Gwandu also picked up two wickets, and the new ball bowler Richard Ngarava picked up the remaining wicket to fall.
The Zimbabwe innings ran into trouble right at the start of the chase. In the end, just the two batters, Sean Williams and the skipper Sikandar Raza, reached double figures in this game. Zimbabwe will look at Craig Ervine and Joylord Gumbie to score big runs in this game.
They have scored a reasonable number of runs in their last few ODI games. The onus for the bowling attack remains with Richard Ngarava. He has picked up 12 wickets from his last eight matches with a strike rate of 27.91. He will be helped by Blessing Muarabani, who has also bowled well in recent games.
The Afghan openers were in great form in the second game of the series. Sediqullah scored 104 runs from 128 balls, while his partner Abdul Malik put together 84 runs from 101 balls with eleven fours and one six. The Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi also contributed 29 runs to the score in the middle order.
But the day belonged to the Afghanistan bowlers. They ripped through the Zim batting to bowl them out for a paltry total of 54 runs in just 17.5 overs. Just two Zim batters succeeded in reaching double figures.
All the Afghanistan bowlers in this game were among wickets, and their main bowler, Rashid Khan, was not even asked to bowl.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz missed this game. He is expected to return to the playing eleven in this contest. He has had impressive returns in this format in recent matches.
Mohammad Nabi has also scored 259 runs from his last ten games with an excellent average of 37. AM Ghazanfar and Azmatullah Omarzai will lead the Afghanistan bowling attack. Ghazanfar picked up a three-fer in the last game. He has picked up 16 wickets in his previous ten games for Afghanistan.
As the Zimbabwean batters found out in the last game, batting second on the Harare track might not be a good idea. Although this track has been good for batters, it also helps the bowlers. The evidence from the last game alone should not lead to a decision by the skipper. But after the Zimbabwe debacle in the previous match, either captain is unlikely to field first.
All said and done, this Harare Sports Club surface is likely to hold good for the entire contest duration. But, the performance of Afghanistan bowlers, especially the spinners, would have put a question mark on the nature of this track. In any event, the Zim players who are more aware of the conditions must read the track correctly.
We expect nice and warm weather for this contest, with the temperature close to 31 degrees. There is no possibility of rain interruption during the game.
After the second-match debacle of Zimbabwe, it will take a brave man to bet against Afghanistan. The Zimbabwe batting order was routed even without Rashid Khan being introduced to the bowling attack. Going with Afghanistan in this contest is a straightforward bet. You can bet on them to take the ODI series 2-0.
Bet on Afghanistan to win.
