Afghanistan is the newest Test cricketing nation (along with Ireland) and has very limited experience in this format. In fact, this Test series against Zimbabwe will be the first that it has ever played against it. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, has been playing Test cricket for much longer.

Theoretically, Zimbabwe should have a much better established cricketing structure, and the experience of having played Test cricket for so many years should have made it the favorite to win. In reality, that is nowhere close to being the case.
