The Sri Lankan opener expressed his muscle against the Bangla Tigers. He hit a powerful 36 runs off 16 balls in his previous innings to help his side with an important win.
The Nawabs could look to play attacking front-foot cricket from the very start. They have a solid opening batting partnership to work with. Their previous first over of the match ended in them taking 15 runs off the over.
The Bulls and Nawabs ended fifth and fourth on the table respectively to prove that not much will separate them on the day. This will be an important match to settle who progresses to the next Eliminator match. The loser will be eliminated immediately. Having both secured spots in the knockout stages, both teams will have quality lineups.
The UP Nawabs have yet to face off against the Delhi Bulls this tournament. This upcoming match also marks their first ever meeting in the T10. The Nawabs finished higher than the Bulls on the points table by eight points to six.
The Disney+ Hotstar app will provide coverage of the Abu Dhabi T10 Eliminator One between Delhi Bulls and UP Nawabs on Sunday, 1 December 2024 at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is an exciting young captain whose aggressive batting and tidy wicket-keeping can set the tone for the innings at the crease or in the field. The Afghan batter has 234 runs in his last seven T10 innings.
Sri Lankan Avishka Fernando brings an equal amount of talent and flair to the batting lineup. The presence of Andre Fletcher adds further excitement and power to the top-order. Fernando and Fletcher both starred in the previous game with 36 runs off 16 balls and 27 runs off 19 balls.
The middle-order will be comprised of a combination of the dynamic Najibullah Zadran and the all-rounders of Odean Smith and Curtis Campher. Smith’s fast bowling and hard-hitting lower down the order can be pivotal in close contests, while Campher’s knack for picking crucial wickets and chipping in with useful runs adds to the team's overall depth.
Khalid Shah is a local promising talent in the lineup.
Leg-spinner Adil Rashid will be a consistent threat in the T10 format with control and precision in his stock deliveries and his variations. Left-arm seamer Tymal Mills brings his pace and expertise in death bowling.
Mills claimed match-winning figures of three for nine in two overs against the Bangla Tigers. Fellow left-armer Binura Fernando will complement Mills with his angle and pace. The Sri Lankan has nine wickets in his last seven T10 bowling innings.
Englishman James Vince will play his shots with elegance. His consistency at the top will be crucial for setting a solid platform. He will be joined by fellow countryman, Tom Banton, the wicketkeeper-batter. He blasted 29 runs off 14 balls in his last innings. Captain Rovman Powell adds experience in the middle-order.
In the middle-order, Australians Tim David and Nikhil Chaudhary bring their hard-hitting capabilities. David, in particular, has been a revelation in various T20 leagues globally. He hit an unbeaten 30 runs not out at a strike rate over 200 against the Deccan Gladiators.
Chaudhary is a promising young talent who has impressed in the Big Bash League. The all-round abilities of Shadab Khan and Fabian Allen cannot be understated either. They bring balance to the team as both powerful ball-strikers and important spin bowlers.
The English Sam Cook will be the leader of the fast-bowling pack. He will have to lead from the front among a group of inexperienced bowlers in the form of Shahid Butta, Muhammad Rohid and Salman Irshad. Butta and Irshad both grabbed two wickets each in their previous match.
Both captains may find themselves stuck in between the decision of batting or bowling first. Batting first may be a decent choice to put runs on the board in a knockout game, but ultimately the decision to bowl first could prove more fruitful with the expected day/night conditions.
The pitch may be getting drier and slower as the tournament moves on. The tournament has hardly been affected by rain. You can expect the spinners to enjoy a surface with a slower nature to it, while also spinning more on a dry track.
The Abu Dhabi pitch may not always be the easiest to bat on with it potentially starting to break up at this point in the competition, but a total in the region of 85 to 95 runs could make for an intriguing game.
The day and evening conditions for the match will be mostly sunny with a fair amount of humidity. The match should not experience any rain with a zero percent chance of rain.
You can expect an exciting game as the two lowest-ranked teams in the knockout rounds clash. Both teams will be seeking a win to stay alive in the competition. The Bulls and Nawabs are likely to be evenly matched in a fiercely match-up. The Nawabs have winning momentum behind them, compared to a Bulls side which was on the losing side of things against the Gladiators by three runs.
