Tom Banton and James Vince have been on a roll in the last couple of matches and have put up an opening stand of at least 50 runs in 2 of the last 3 matches. On the other hand, the Samp Army is struggling to find a solid opening pair.
The Morrisville Samp Army and the Delhi Bulls will face off on Monday for a place in the finals. The winner will face the Deccan Gladiators for the ultimate prize.
The two teams have faced each other in 3 matches to date, with the Samp Army winning each of them.
This match will be live-streamed on the FanCode App.
After an excellent run in the group stages, the Samp Army has seen a slight dip in its form and is coming into this contest on the back of consecutive losses. The latest of those losses came against the Deccan Gladiators in Qualifier 1.
Much will depend on the form of Faf du Plessis. He has been the mainstay of Morrisville’s batting and will once again play an important role at the top of the order. He has yet to find a stable opening partner though.
Andries Gous is another player to watch out for, thanks to his ability to play the big shots. The Samp Army has plenty of depth in its batting thanks to the all-rounders like Imad Wasim, Karim Janat, and Charith Asalanka. However, they haven’t been consistent with the bat.
Coming to the bowling, Amir Hamza remains the leading wicket-taker for the team with 9 wickets. He will ask for better support from the other spinners like Qais Ahmed and Imad Wasim. The pace attack consisting of Isuru Udana, Mohammad Zahid, and Karim Janat has been mediocre in terms of picking up wickets.
The Delhi Bulls barely managed to make it through to the playoffs. But back-to-back wins in the knockout matches on Sunday mean that they now have a shot at making it to their 3rd finals in 5 seasons.
Tom Banton and James Vince have done an excellent job at the top of the order. Banton is peaking in form at the right time as he slammed consecutive half-centuries on Sunday. The middle order consists of Rovman Powell, Shadab Khan, and Tim David, all of whom are capable of scoring runs at will.
The Bulls have a very strong pace attack consisting of Shahid Bhutta, Muhammad Rohid, Salman Irshad, and Fazalhaq Farooqi. Bhutta is among the leading wicket-takers of the tournament with 12 wickets while Farooqi is close behind with 11. For spin, the team will depend on Shadab Khan.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium is expected to be good to bat on. There is good pace and bounce, allowing the batsmen to play the shots. That said, the bowlers will get help if they hit the right areas as there are plenty of rough patches. Anything over 120 will be difficult to chase under a high-pressure situation.
The weather will remain clear with temperatures of around 25 degrees.
The Samp Army was among the best teams during the group stage but hasn’t been at the top of their game in the last couple of outings. On the other hand, the Delhi Bulls have shown great resilience and are expected to win here.
Bet on the Delhi Bulls to win.
