Pooran has been dismissed for a Golden Duck in both his innings this season. Given his poor form, he is likely to find it difficult to play a big knock against the strong bowling of Team Abu Dhabi.
The openers for Abu Dhabi haven’t crossed the 17-run partnership in both matches played. With Paul Stirling not in the best of forms, they are unlikely to put up a big partnership in this match as well.
Team Abu Dhabi and the Deccan Gladiators will fight to claim the top spot on the points table as they face off in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League. The match will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Saturday.
The two teams have faced each other in 6 matches to date. The Gladiators won 4 games while Team Abu Dhabi won 2.
This match will be live-streamed on the FanCode App.
The Deccan Gladiators are among the most consistent teams in the Abu Dhabi T10 League and have continued with their good form in the present season as well. The Gladiators have won both its games so far.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Rilee Rossouw make up for a strong and explosive opening pair. Skipper Nicolas Pooran will come in at number 3, while Jos Buttler and Marcus Stoinis come in lower down. The Gladiators arguably have one of the strongest top 5 in the league.
Buttler has scored consecutive half-centuries in the last two games and is the leading run-scorer of the tournament. The Gladiators also have a couple of good all-rounders, AryanLakra and David Weise.
They not only add depth to the batting but are also dependable bowlers. Luke Wood, Anrich Nortje, and Richard Gleeson make up a strong pace attack while Maheesh Theekshana is the lone specialist spinner.
Just like their opponents, Team Abu Dhabi is also undefeated this year. It is sitting at the top of the table, and enjoys the best NRR among all teams.
Team Abu Dhabi’s biggest strength this year seems to be its bowling unit. Mark Adair, Rumman Raees, and Zeeshan Naseer make up a strong pace attack that has picked up 12 wickets between them. Adair bowled a brilliant spell in the previous game as he picked up 4 wickets and is now the leading wicket-taker for the season.
Adam Milne, who played his first match of the season on Friday, remained wicketless but was quite economical. The spin department does seem a bit understaffed with Allah Ghaznafar and Noor Ahmad being the only two specialist spinners.
The batsmen haven’t had much work to do as the opposition has been bundled out for less than 80 runs in both matches. Phil Salt did score a brisk half-century in the first game and looks in fine touch. The others in the line-up include Paul Stirling, Johnny Bairstow, and Kyle Mayers.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch is likely to be flat and a bit on the dry side. There are plenty of footmarks and rough spots that the bowlers can aim for to get some movement. The new ball will swing a bit as well. That said, the batsmen will be able to play their shots once they settle down. The team batting first will look to score at least 100 runs. The weather will be clear with temperatures of around 27 degrees.
We may see some dew during the second half.
Both teams are undefeated so far and will be high on confidence. While we are expecting a close contest. We feel that the Deccan Gladiators might have a slight edge due to a stronger batting unit.
