Andries Gous is in good form this year and has scored 144 runs at an average of 48.00. He has scored at least 15 runs in 4 of his 6 innings. We are therefore backing him to play another good knock in this match.
The opening pair of the Samp Army has done a decent job this season. They have put up a partnership of 19 or more runs in 4 of the last 6 games. We reckon that the openers will play well yet again.
After a grueling schedule of the group stage, we have now reached the playoffs in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League. The Morrisville Samp Army and the Deccan Gladiators finished as the top two teams and will face each other in Qualifier 1 on Sunday. The winner will go directly to the finals, while the loser will have another chance in Qualifier 2.
The two teams have faced each other in 4 matches to date, both winning 2 games each.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch it live on the Star Sports Network.
Just like their opponents, the Gladiators too have lost just one match during the group stages. However, since the Gladiators enjoy a better NRR, they are at the top of the points table.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore has showcased his hard-hitting abilities this year by scoring 171 runs at a strike rate of 180. The Gladiators will expect another brisk start from him. Nicholas Pooran, who has had a mediocre season so far, seems to be peaking in form just at the right time as he scored 28 runs in just 12 balls on Friday.
Jos Buttler is the team’s leading run-scorer, with 224 runs. He will be joined by all-rounders Aryan Lakra, Marcus Stoinis, and David Weise in the middle order. The Gladiators have plenty of options when it comes to fast bowlers.
These include Richard Gleeson, Anrich Nortje, Ibrar Ahmed, Usman Khan, and Luke Wood. Gleeson is the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 10 wickets. The spin attack will be led by Maheesh Theekshana, who has 5 wickets against his name.
The Morrisville Samp Army enjoyed an excellent run in the group stages, winning each of its first 6 matches. While they did lose their latest fixture, the Samp Army finished 2nd on the points table.
Faf du Plessis was rested in the latest fixture after he survived an injury scare. However, he is likely to be fit and available for selection for this match. Du Plessis will be joined by Sharjeel Khan at the top of the order.
Andries Gous played an excellent innings on Friday, albeit for a losing cause. He will once again be a key player in the middle order. The Samp Army does have a lot of depth in its batting thanks to players like Rohan Mustafa, Karim Janat, and Leonardo Julien.
But most of them have been a bit inconsistent and that could be a potential problem if they lose early wickets. Coming to the bowling, Amir Hamza, Qais Ahmed, and Sharafuddin Ashraf make up for a strong spin attack and have picked up 17 wickets between them.
The spin department consists of Isuru Udana, Mohammad Zahid, and Karim Janat but they haven’t been as effective.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at Abu Dhabi is likely to be balanced. The bowlers who bowl a good line and length will trouble the batsmen and even get wickets. However, any loose deliveries will be punished. The spinners can expect some grip from the surface. A score of around 110 will be a par score. The weather will remain clear with temperatures of around 25 degrees.
Both the teams have played some excellent cricket and we are expecting a cracking contest. While on most cricket betting sites there is no favorite to win, we feel that the Deccan Gladiators have a slight edge thanks to some solid batsmen and a strong bowling unit.
Bet on the Deccan Gladiators to win.
