The battle at the past few years’ bottom should be an interesting one. The Trichy franchise changed their team’s name from the 2023 season onwards but have followed the same fate of their previous seasons by lingering outside of the play-off positions.
Salem have started their 2025 campaign with a win. That may be a sign that change is on the way for them. Trichy will be looking to send them a reminder of the most recent encounters against them.

Both squads appear to be fully fit, ensuring a game where the best of both teams take on each other
The typical pitch to expect at the venue is one which has a bit on offer for the spinners but will largely be the terrain for the fast bowlers. The batters will have their fair share of enjoyable conditions to work with. The second innings is where the batting sides have thrived the most. Salem won their previous chase inside the 19th over.
R Kavin had his best year of the TNPL in 2024. The wicketkeeper-batter hit 160 runs at an average of 32 last season. Waseem Ahmed was phenomenal in 2024 with an average just over 36 and a strike rate just under 140.
Nidhish Rajagopal has over 800 TNPL runs. He will be looking to replicate his 2021 season when he hit 306 runs with two half-centuries. Hari Nishaanth has a proven record of being a star in the league. He has had three seasons of 250 or more runs. Jafar Jamal has recent stats which prove his quality. The right-handed batter has 312 runs in his past nine matches.
Sunny Sandhu has put his name in lights as a top prospect with both the white ball and the willow in hands. He has 194 runs and ten wickets in his past ten matches. R Rajkumar’s 2024 season was arguably match-winning at times. His batting performances earned him an average of 36.5 at a strike rate of 221.2. His bowling didn’t miss the mark either with seven wickets at just under seven runs per over.
Sanjay Yadav enjoyed his best TNPL season in 2022 when he was a dynamo all-rounder. Yadav hit 452 runs and took six wickets in that season. He is on track to get back to his best. With 33 T20 wickets and a four-wicket haul, Mohammed Mohammed should feel at home when he runs up to bowl in Coimbatore.
M Poiyamozhi is one of the bowlers you can expect to show up on matchday. His numbers were scintillating in 2024 with 16 wickets at a bowling average of 13.7 and strike rate of 10.1. Rahil Shah was tidy and economical in his previous bowling performance against Madurai with one for 22 in three overs. Athisayaraj Davidson took 13 wickets for Trichy in 2024. That includes a four-wicket haul against Tiruppur.
Hari Nishaanth is one of the gems who has been a product of the league and earned his spot in the IPL editions of 2021 and 2022 with the Chennai Super Kings. The left-hander was an integral part of the Tamil Nadu state side which was victorious in the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Sanjay Yadav has history in this head-to-head which makes him someone to keep close attention to. The all-rounder hit a blistering 68 runs off 33 balls against Salem last year.
You should have a fair spread of seam bowlers for the early new ball conditions in the powerplay. The spinners may have an impact for a brief period, but the potential showers could negate the effect of spin on the day.
The pace-bowling all-rounders could be worth their weight in gold on a pitch with wickets and runs in it.
The batters in the second innings should make you the biggest profit. Based on previous results and performances batting under lights and with the effect of dew, they should be valuable in your lineup.
U Mukilesh with 417 Dream11 fantasy points is on top of the tree. Jagatheesan Kousik is knocking on the door with 393 points.
Nidhish Rajagopal is the only batter to hit more than 50 runs. He currently has 60 runs. R Kavin is close behind on 48 runs
U Mukilesh has three wickets. Mohammed Mohammed has two wickets. The rest of the bowling lineups are all stuck on one wicket
R Kavin and Jafar Jamal are both on four sixes each. That is double what a number of batters on two sixes have.
Rajendran Vivek has a strike rate of 212.50. R Rajkumar with a strike rate of 187.50 is the only other batter with a strike rate of 150
Ajith Ram has the best economy at five runs per over. U Mukilesh at 5.75 has the second-best economy
