Sri Lanka
Bangladesh
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh face off in the first Test of the series. There has been a fairly long break between Tests for both sides. Sri Lanka last played a Test in February and Bangladesh last played a Test a bit sooner in April.
Young captain Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead a side looking to break away from history and record the country’s second Test win against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka are likely to lift their spirits with a Test series against an Asian rival. Their previous Test series was a disappointing loss to Australia. The current generation will have what it takes to continue their dominance over their Bangladeshi neighbors.

Lahiru Kumara was initially named in the squad but will miss the first Test due to an injury sustained during practice
The best time to bat is usually in the first innings of day one. The average first innings total at Galle sits at 383 with that drastically dropping to 139 in the fourth innings. Day one may not be the worst time for bowling though. Light rain may potentially be something to worry about leading up to the toss. Batters may need to navigate some tricky periods at time before conditions improve.
Jaker Ali has done well in the comforts of playing Test cricket in Asia. The right-handed batter has two half-centuries in five Tests in Asia. Kusal Mendis will be looking to replicate and produce more Tests innings like that of his 245-run innings against Ireland.
Mominul Haque has put his hand up for his country in recent innings with scores of 56, 47 and 33 in 2025 Tests. Shadman Islam loves the conditions when batting in Asia. The opening batter has over 600 runs with one century and four half-centuries in Tests in Asia. 27-year-old Pathum Nissanka has two Test centuries plus seven Test half-centuries.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz outclassed the Zimbabweans at home in his side’s recent Test series. The off-spinning all-rounder hit 116 runs while taking 15 wickets in only a two-match Test series. Akila Dananjaya returns to the Test side after taking a five-wicket haul in his previous Test. That performance came against New Zealand in Galle in 2019. Angelo Mathews would want to go out of Test cricket on a high against an Asian rival. The experienced Sri Lankan cricketer hit a half-century in his previous Test against Bangladesh
Taijul Islam’s Test bowling record is on another level. The left-arm spinner has 228 wickets with 16 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket hauls. Prabath Jayasuriya could keep going with his constant wicket-taking in Tests. The left-arm orthodox spinner has 49 wickets in his past nine Test matches. Pacer Asitha Fernando will need to make the most of his opportunities with the new ball. The right-arm seamer has 72 Test wickets with four four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls.
This Test series will mean a lot for Angelo Mathews. The all-rounder could lift his standards for one final time before he bows out. With over 8000 Test runs, he has more than enough experience to play a match-defining knock.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be a strong candidate for you to get great value from. The all-rounder is one of the most complete players in the modern game, particularly in the subcontinent. He has 1725 runs and 155 wickets in Tests on the Asian continent.
You should keep in mind that this Test takes place in Asia. Spinners should be a non-negotiable in your side, even if they may not take full effect until the latter half of the Test. A player like Mehidy Hasan Miraz is capable of dual impact with bat and ball.
This may be one of the few Asian Tests where the pacers could have some success early on with the dampish conditions. A few new ball seamers might make a difference on day one and two. The batters should be comfortable in the subcontinent, particularly when batting conditions improve after the damp weather.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been the best in this department. The all-rounder has 867 Dream11 fantasy points. Countryman Taijul Islam has 755 points
Kusal Mendis has 190 runs for 2025. Dinesh Chandimal has his spot just behind his Sri Lankan teammate with 189 runs
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been unstoppable with 15 wickets this year. The off-spinner is joined by another spinner in his bowling attack. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam has 11 wickets
Kusal Mendis kicked up the gears with three sixes in 2025. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Kamindu Mendis and Mominul Haque have two each
Kusal Mendis is doing the best here with a strike rate of 67.85. Oshada Fernando is sitting at a 2025 strike rate of 65 currently
Mominul Haque has only bowled two overs for two runs this year, giving him an economy rate of one. Mehidy Hasan Miraz at 2.10 is probably the more realistic leader
