After a grueling group stage lasting over 2 months, we have the top four teams in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore have emerged as two of the best-performing teams and will face off for a place in the finals.
For the Punjab Kings, this will be the first time that they will play in the playoffs in 11 years. While there will be some nerves, we expect them to continue playing well and put up yet another big total. The Royal Challengers have been pretty consistent over the past few seasons and have made it to the playoffs for the 5th time in 6 years. However, the last time they finished in the top two was back in 2016 and they will be delighted to have two shots at making it to the finals.

Tim David, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Josh Hazlewood are likely to be fit and available for selection in this match.
While the pitches at Mullanpur are known to be balanced, we are expecting a good batting surface for this match. As both teams have a strong batting line-up, we can expect plenty of runs. The quicker bowlers can expect some help as there is an even covering of grass. However, they will have to rely on variations in pace to pick up wickets.
A score of around 180-190 can be considered a par score.
The weather could be cloudy but we don’t expect any interruptions due to rain.
Both teams have two wicket-keeper batsmen each and we are selecting three of them as we are expecting a good batting track. Jitesh Sharma played a brilliant knock in the last match while Prabhsimran Singh and Phil Salt have been pretty consistent.
Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are the leading run-scorers for their respective teams and are the obvious choices. We are also opting for Priyansh Arya.
Krunal Pandya has contributed with the bat and the ball and is the top choice. We are also selecting Marcus Stoinis and he is a potential match-winner.
The pitch is likely to favor the seamers more compared to slower bowlers. We are therefore selecting Arshdeep Singh and Josh Hazlewood. Yuzvendra Chahal comes in to balance the bowling attack.
Virat Kohli is the obvious choice here. He has scored 8 half-centuries this year, 5 of which have come in the last 6 matches. He has a knack for scoring big runs in big games.
We are selecting Shreyas Iyer as the vice-captain of our team. He has been one of Punjab’s most consistent batsmen this season and we expect him to continue batting well.
The last few games have all been about batting prowess and we have therefore selected quite a few batsmen in our playing XI. However, the Mullanpur stadium could throw up a balanced surface and we have therefore selected two seamers who bowl well with the new ball and are also accurate during the death overs. We have also opted for two wicket-taking spinners to balance the attack.
Virat Kohli has 556 points from the last 5 matches at an average of 111 points per game.
Virat Kohli (602), Shreyas Iyer (514), Prabhsimran Singh (499)
Josh Hazlewood (18), Arshdeep Singh (18), Krunal Pandya (15)
Shreyas Iyer (31), Prabhsimran Singh (27), Priyansh Arya (24)
Marcus Stoinis (193.84), Tim David (185.14), Priyansh Arya (183.54)
Josh Hazlewood (8.44), Arshdeep Singh (8.56), Krunal Pandya (8.58)
