As we approach the business end of the Indian Premier League, the excitement among the fans is reaching a crescendo. The action now moves to the Narendra Modi Stadium, the largest cricket stadium in the world, where the Punjab Kings take on the Mumbai Indians for a place in the Finals.
The last time that the Punjab Kings made it this far in the tournament was back in 2014 when they reached the finals but eventually lost to KKR. The Mumbai Indians on the other hand have reached the playoffs for the 2nd time in the last 5 seasons and are pretty used to handling the pressure.

There are no updates regarding injuries from either side.
We are expecting a good batting surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium for this match. The pitch is likely to be flat and hard, offering excellent pace and bounce. The batsmen will be able to play their shots with confidence and can play the big shots with ease. 6 of the last 7 matches played here have been won while batting first and we reckon that batting first and putting up a big score will be the way to go. The surface does slow down a bit in the second half, helping the bowlers who vary their pace.
While there is no forecast for rain, we can expect some dew around the ground. The weather will remain warm and humid.
Prabhsimran Singh is the top choice here. He has been pretty consistent for Punjab and is also their leading run-scorer. We are also picking Johnny Bairstow after seeing the way he batted in the Eliminator.
Since the pitch is likely to be good to bat on, we are selecting quite a few batsmen. Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Priyansh Arya are the obvious choices.
We are selecting Hardik Pandya and Marcus Stoinis here. They are both quality all-rounders who can turn the match around with both, the bat and the ball.
We are going with 3 seamers here in the form of Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Arshdeep Singh.
We are selecting Suryakumar Yadav as the captain of our team. He has been among the most consistent batsmen this season and has played some excellent knocks over the last couple of weeks. He has also scored a half-century in each of his last 4 appearances against Punjab.
Shreyas Iyer is our pick as the vice-captain. He led KKR to the title last season and has been instrumental in Punjab’s successful run. He is also one of the best middle-order batsmen in the league.
As mentioned earlier, we are expecting a good batting surface for this match and we have therefore opted for a team that is heavily laden with batsmen. The bowlers are likely to have a rough time and we have therefore tried to go with the most experienced seamers who have plenty of experience bowling with the new ball as well as during the death overs. The two all-rounders are capable of providing balance to the playing XI.
Suryakumar Yadav has 508 points from the last 5 matches at an average of 101 points per game.
Suryakumar Yadav (673), Prabhsimran Singh (517), Shreyas Iyer (516)
Trent Boult (21), Jasprit Bumrah (18), Arshdeep Singh (18)
Suryakumar Yadav (35), Shreyas Iyer (31), Prabhsimran Singh (28)
Johnny Bairstow (213.63), Marcus Stoinis (185.36), Priyansh Arya (182.62)
Naman Dhir (5.25), Jasprit Bumrah (6.36), Mitchell Marsh (7.94)
