Both teams are playing for the same goal in this ODI series, apart from winning it. Ireland and the West Indies men will be keen to improve their position in the points tally of their teams to ensure that they qualify for the main draw of the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.
Both teams have fielded several newcomers. Ireland has included Cade Carmichael, Liam McCarthy, and Thomas Mayes in their squad for this series. Their top fast bowler and all-rounder, Mark Adair, will miss this tour due to an injury.
West Indies have named pretty much the same squad that played against Bangladesh for this tour to Ireland and England. Shai Hope will lead the side. The opening wicket combination is likely to be Evin Lewis and Brandon King. After withdrawing from the tour of Bangladesh, Matthew Forde and Shamar Joseph are fit for this series. Amir Jangoo, who hit a superb hundred on debut in 79 balls, will be keen to keep his good run going.
After a clean sweep against Bangladesh, the Caribbeans will be eying another series win to improve their chances for direct qualification in the 2027 World Cup.

Ireland’s quick Mark Adair will miss this series due to an injury. That is a big void in the Irish camp. Aside from that, there are no other injury updates from either of the teams.
The wicket on offer at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin will favor quick and attacking batters. It provides a consistent bounce and good pace. Sunny and clear conditions are expected for this encounter, and the temperatures during the game will be close to 20 degrees.
The West Indies skipper, Shai Hope, is our choice for the wicketkeeper. Although the West Indies skipper was not in the best form with the bat in the later part of the Bangladesh series, he scored a half-century in the first game.
Andrew Balbirnie, Brandon King, and Evin Lewis are the top batters in good form and are likely to do well in this series. Newcomer Cade Carmichael has also done well in recent first-class matches and will be the player to watch out for.
The newcomer Cade Carmichael is likely to emerge as the best all-rounder of this contest. He has youth and talent and has scored runs in recent games. Other top contenders for this contest are Curtis Campher and Matthew Forde.
The top bowlers for this contest are Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Josh Little. Joseph, in particular, was on song in the Bangladesh series, picking up two wickets each in all three games.
We reckon Shai Hope will be the ideal captain for this contest because of his experience at the top level and his batting capabilities.
Curtis Campher from Ireland is someone that we would recommend for the vice-captain. He is a dependable middle order batter and often contributed with the ball as well.
Undoubtedly, the West Indies has a better team in its ranks. They have more wins in recent matches, and it will be tough for the Irishmen to stop them in this series. However, Ireland is playing at home. This is always an advantage in any cricket.
They do have players who have gathered vital exposure in recent years, and they can surprise the Caribbeans in this contest. Overall, the West Indies have a better chance of opening their account here.
West Indies batter Keacy Carty has been in top form in recent games, scoring 432 runs in his last ten games. He is followed by Sherfane Rutherford, who has scored 425 runs in his last nine games.
Alzarri Joseph has been the top wicket-taker with 13 wickets from eight games.
Sherfane Rutherford has the best strike rate in this encounter of 120.05 in recent games. Keacy Carty has also scored runs with a strike rate of 90.56.
West Indian, Gudakesh Motie, has the best economy rate of 4.85 in his last ten games.
