India outclassed England in all departments in Birmingham and will hope to strengthen its hold on the elusive Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as they face the hosts at the iconic Lord’s Stadium starting this week.
India’s batting has been top-notch. From Shubman Gill’s textbook shots to Rishabh Pant’s unorthodox and flamboyant style of batting, the visitors have taken the opposition bowling to the cleaners. England’s batting hasn’t been on par, especially from its top order. However, the team will take some solace from the fact that a couple of their key fast bowlers are set to return to the playing XI.

There are no reports of any injury from either side
We are expecting a fast pitch for this match. The surface is likely to be moist early on with an even covering of green grass that will help the quicker bowlers get some movement off the seam. However, as the match progresses, it will get better to bat on. As there is no forecast for rain, the surface could dry out and the spinners will get grip and turn on the last day.
The weather is expected to remain warm with plenty of sunshine.
We are selecting both, Jamie Smith and Rishabh Pant for our team. The duo has been in excellent form with the bat.
Shubman Gill is the obvious choice here. We are Harry Brook, Joe Root, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and KL Rahul
Ravindra Jadeja has been the best all-rounder in the two matches played so far and has made it to our team.
We are going with three full-time seamers in Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, and Gus Atkinson.
Shubman Gill is our choice as the captain of the team. He is the leading run-scorer of the tournament with three scores of 100+ runs, one of which was a double-century.
There are a few choices here but we are tempted to go with Joe Root. He hasn’t been in the best of form but has an excellent record at Lord’s.
We have tried to select a balanced playing XI for this match. Since the surface is likely to be a green top, we have selected three quality seamers for our team. We would have liked to include at least one more all-rounder in the team but other than Jadeja, no one has been up to the mark.
Shubman Gill has 1202 points from the last 5 matches at an average of 240 points per game.
Shubman Gill (585), Jamie Smith (356), Rishabh Pant (342)
Josh Tongue (11), Akash Deep (10), Mohammed Siraj (9)
Rishabh Pant (13), Shubman Gill (12), Jamie Smith (11)
Jamie Smith (86.19), Ben Duckett (83.09), Rishabh Pant (81.81)
Ben Stokes (3.49), Chris Woakes (3.53), Ravindra Jadeja (3.52)
