After a clinical win at Headingley, England enter the 2nd Test with all the momentum and an unchanged XI. Ben Stokes' men executed their plans to perfection, with Ben Duckett’s 149, steady middle-order contributions, and an inspired bowling performance led by the trio of Woakes, Carse, and Tongue.
India, on the other hand, put up a mountain of runs with centuries from Jaiswal, Gill, Pant, and Rahul—but let the game slip due to ineffective bowling and dismal slip fielding. With Jasprit Bumrah likely to be rested for workload management, India’s attack looks toothless on paper, particularly without reliable support from Prasidh Krishna. Expect a second spinner—Washington Sundar or Kuldeep Yadav—to come in, and possibly Nitish Reddy for added batting depth.
At Edgbaston, seamers will enjoy Day 1 movement while spinners could dominate later. But with showers forecast on multiple days, captains might look to bowl first and seize early advantages.

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for the 2nd Test.
The surface is expected to be dry underneath with some grass—offering seam on Day 1 and turn later. There should be plenty of runs in this surface and the bowlers will toil once more. The par first inning score is 320.
The weather if expected to be overcast with rain likely on Days 1, 4, and 5. Expect some delays and interruptions.
Rishabh Pant – His aggressive 100+ in Leeds and safe glovework make him a top-tier pick. Jamie Smith is a strong differential pick for lower-order runs.
Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill are essential picks. All four are in top form and likely to face the bulk of the bowling.
Ben Stokes – Valuable with the ball and bat; a must-pick in English conditions. Ravindra Jadeja/ Washington Sundar bring all-round balance and spin threat.
Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and Kuldeep Yadav should provide wicket-taking potential. Prasidh Krishna is a gamble after an expensive outing in Leeds.
Ben Duckett – In sensational form and opens the batting.
Joe Root is reliable, technically sound, and plays spin well. Rishabh Pant on the other hand is a game-changing batter and fantasy point machine if he gets going.
England’s in-form batting and balanced pace-spin combo make them the safer side to back. India’s fantasy value lies mostly in their top order and spinners. Hasaranga-style value from Kuldeep or Sundar could swing big leagues. Avoid over-investing in India’s pacers if Bumrah is ruled out.
Rishab Pant - 682 points
Rishabh Pant (252), Ben Duckett (211), KL Rahul (179)
Josh Tongue (7), Jasprit Bumrah (5), Ben Stokes (5)
Rishabh Pant (9), Jamie Smith (3), Harry Brook (2)
