SUS vs GLO Match Preview

Gloucestershire managed to spring a minor surprise by beating the hosts Birmingham Bears in the quarter-final to reach the semis. Their bowlers, Ollie Price and David Payne, picked up seven wickets to further extend the Bears' losing streak. This was the fourth time the Bears were unceremoniously bundled out of the quarter-finals. The North Group winners had a bad day at the office and were beaten by 14 runs in this low-scoring game at Edgbaston. Gloucestershire succeeded in reaching the semi-finals thanks to their better net run rate.

Now, Gloucestershire has reached semis. Gloucestershire raced to 51 for no loss in five overs and looked good in this period. However, the Gloucestershire bowlers quickly dashed their hopes of raising a huge total. Then Payne picked up four for 23. The spinner Ollie Price also picked up three wickets for 32 runs. Cameron Bancroft was the top run-getter for Gloucestershire with 43 runs from 35 balls. Miles Hammond scored 30 runs from 24 balls. But there were no big scores achieved by any of the Gloucestershire batters.

Sussex played their quarter-final against Lancashire in Hove. Ollie Robinson displayed that he still has match-winning capabilities and should have been included in the England side. Robinson spearheaded the Sussex effort with a first-ball wicket and ran out Liam Livingstone. Robinson showed his credentials with his skillful new-ball bowling. Even though Lancashire fielded as many as seven international players, they could not resist Ollie Robinson. He immediately got into the act, picking up Phil Salt's wicket.

Sussex will be missing Jofra Archer's services in the semi-final. Tymal Mills was leading the Sussex team for the first time this season. He will be bitterly disappointed at not having Jofra Archer's services in the bowling department. Due to the tight scheduling of international games, none of the English international players will be available for either team. Sussex has thrived on the captainship of Tymal Mills. Last year, they could not even reach the quarterfinals under the leadership of Ravi Bopara.

Weather Report

We are expecting cloud cover during the game in the afternoon in Birmingham. The temperature will remain close to 18 degrees, and the relative humidity will be close to normal. The sun might peek through occasionally during this encounter. There are no prospects of getting showers through this contest, though.

Pitch Report

It has been noticed that the wicket at Edgbaston assists the pacers in getting some lateral movement, especially early on. But the batters will genuinely benefit from the true pace and bounce after they are set. Spinners are unlikely to get too much help from the track. Overall, the conditions appear to be in favor of batters.

Notable stats

David Payne has had an excellent bowling average in recent games.

Payne has picked up 29 wickets in his last fifteen games for Gloucestershire.

Sussex leads the recent head-to-head between the two teams.

Sussex has a 3-2 edge in the last five games they have played against each other. Sussex has also won both the games played against Gloucestershire this year in this competition.

Team News

The Sussex captain will desperately miss Jofra Archer's services in this contest. Both sides will be devoid of all their England internationals.

Dream11 Prediction

Both teams are in the semi-finals because they did well earlier. But considering the man-to-man strengths and weaknesses of the two teams, we reckon Sussex will have the edge in this game. So, we will bet with Sussex to win this encounter and reach the final.

Top Picks

David Payne: The left-arm fast bowler was the top bowler for his team in the quarter-final. You can also expect him to do more damage in this game.

Ollie Robinson: Robinson was unlucky in not being picked for the England national team. But he showed his worth in the quarterfinal, and this might be a positive for his club team.

Daniel Hughes: Hughes has scored 595 runs from his last 15 innings with an average of 42.50.

Cameron Bancroft: Bancroft has scored 442 runs in his last fifteen innings and appeared to be in good nick in the previous game.
