NZ vs SL Match Preview

With Kane Williamstown off to India to fulfill his IPL commitments, Tom Latham will be leading the squad here. He will miss out on the services of Southee, Devon Conway, and Mitchell Santner, all of whom are unavailable due to the IPL. In another blow, ace seamer Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out due to an injury.

Chad Bowes, who has had a brilliant season in List A cricket with Canterbury is expected to make his international debut here, along with Ben Lister, who has picked up 49 wickets in 42 matches for Auckland. The likes of Henry Nicholls, Finn Allen, and Glenn Phillips will add strength to the batting.

The team has some capable all-rounders in the form of Rachin Ravindra, Tom Blundell, and Henry Shipley, who add depth to the batting. Blair Tickner is expected to open the bowling along with Matt Henry, while Ish Sodhi is the specialist spinner in the squad.

Pathum Nissanka and Nuwanidu Fernando add heft to the batting at the top of the order and the team will expect them to score well, especially during the Powerplay.

The visitors have a lot of quality all-rounders in the squad who are expected to play an important role here. Chamika Karunaratne, who was by far the best batsman in the team during the test series, will again play a big role here, while the likes of Dhananjaya de Silva and Angelo Mathews are available too, to add depth to the batting.

Kasun Rajitha is expected to get the new ball, along with Lahiru Kumara, while there are plenty of options for Shanaka during the middle overs, including Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage.

Weather Report

The weather will remain overcast and windy and there might be some occasional showers.

Pitch Report

The surface at Eden Park is a bit slow but s generally good to bat on. Anything over 280 will be a bit difficult to chase here. The spinners will struggle a bit here but the quicker bowlers will get some movement early on.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing New Zealand to win this match. They have a stronger team compared to their opponents and also have a home advantage. The last time that Sri Lanka won an ODI in New Zealand was back in 2015 and most of their current players don’t have experience playing 50-over cricket under these conditions.

Top Picks

Tom Latham: Tom Latham is a versatile batsman who can bat in any position. He has scored 3467 runs in ODI cricket at an average of 35.02 and a strike rate of 85.28.

Matt Henry: Matt Henry has an excellent record in the ODIs and will play an important role in this match as the pitch is helpful to the quicker bowlers. Henry has picked up 116 wickets in ODIs and has a good economy rate of 5.20 runs per over.

Dasun Shanaka: Dasun Shanaka plays the role of a finisher to perfection. He has scored a total of 1068 runs at a strike rate of 94.67 and can also chip in with the ball during the middle overs.
