MINY vs SFU Match Preview

MI New York has roped in some of the best international talent in its squad. Some of the well-known names include Kieron Pollard, who will be leading the team, Rashid Khan, Trent Boult, Tim David, and Nicholas Pooran. Many of these players are a part of or have been a part of the Mumbai Indians in the past.

The batting will be one of the biggest strengths for MI New York as the team has some of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball. The pace attack will be led by Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada, who are among the finest seamers in white-ball cricket. Rashid Khan, in addition to being a reliable spinner, can also contribute with the bat.

He will rely on local boys Nosthush Kenjige and Sarabjit Ladda for support at the other end. Other local talents on the squad include the national team captain Monank Patel, Steven Taylor, and Shayan Jahangir.

Coached by the veteran Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, the San Jose-based franchise will be led by Aaron Finch, who led Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup title in 2021. Together, the duo has gone for a mix of experienced as well as young talent in their team.

In addition to Finch, the Unicorns will rely on the likes of Marcus Stoinis, and Corey Anderson to take them to a big score. Other batsmen on the squad include Finn Allen, Matthew Wade, and Mackenzie Harvey. All-rounders Chaitanya Bishnoi, Tajinder Singh, and Shadab Khan will add depth to the batting.

But perhaps the biggest strength for the Unicorns lies in its bowling. The pace attack will consist of Haris Rauf, Lungi Ngidi, and Liam Plunkett. There are a few local seamers too, including Brody Couch and Carmi Le Roux. Shadab Khan will be the primary spinner for the team and will be supported by Qais Ahmed, Tajinder Singh, and Bishnoi.

Pitch Report

Not much is known about the surface at the Grand Prairie Stadium as this is the first time that the stadium is hosting such a big tournament. However, we expect the pitch to be well-balanced, providing equal opportunities to the batsmen as well as the bowlers.
