MAO vs LOS Match Preview

Jos Buttler, who played during the IPL and the Vitality T20 Blast has carried on with his good form and scored a quick-fire 37 for the Manchester Originals in the first match. He put up a 63-run partnership with Max Holden to stabilize the innings after Manchester lost Phil Salt and Laurie Evans to the first two deliveries of the innings.

However, that wasn’t nearly enough to see the team through. The team does have quite a few all-rounders like Ashton Turner, Jamie Overton, and Paul Walter, who will play an important role in the middle overs.

Coming to the bowling, Josh Tongue and Joshua Little will lead the attack with the new ball. Both were very expensive in the season opener, although Little did pick up 2 wickets. The spin attack is made up of Usama Mir and Tom Hartley.

Adam Rossington and Dan Lawrence were among the top run-getters for London last season and have once again started on a positive note. The duo put up 46 runs for the opening wicket and will be looking to give the team another good start.

Matthew Wade will be the key batsman for the team in the middle order as he can play the big shots with aplomb. The London Spirit has a couple of quality all-rounders in the form of Daryl Mitchell and Ravi Bopara who are capable of adding valuable runs at the end.

Jordan Thompson was the leading wicket-taker for London last season and has started off well by picking up 2 wickets. He will be supported by Nathan Ellis and Daniel Worrall in the seam department, while Matthew Critchley and Liam Dawson will lead the spin attack.

Weather Report

We can expect a few delays due to rain. The forecast suggests passing showers which will hopefully not take too much time out of the match.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Old Trafford is well-balanced and we can expect an even contest between the bat and the ball. The average first-inning score on this ground is around 140, which is a par score. The quicker bowlers can be taken for runs, especially if they miss the proper line.

Notable stats

Laurie Evans’ Excellent Batting

Laurie Evans is known for his clean hitting and has scored 172 runs for Manchester at a strike rate of 182.97. His ability to attack from the first ball makes him invaluable in this format of the game.

Team News

There are no updates regarding injuries from either side.
