HBH vs MLR Match Preview

There is a lot of quality in this team, at least on paper, but it has not really translated so far. A lack of runs from Darcy Short and Ben McDermott is the obvious concern but even the fast bowlers have lacked the kind of effectiveness that was expected.

Nathan Ellis and Riley Meridith were both brilliant for the Hobart Hurricanes in the last couple of seasons. This season so far, Ellis has picked up just one wicket in three matches and is giving away runs at 10.27 an over. Meridith has picked up four wickets but is also giving away runs at 9.54.

Patrick Dooley and Tim David are the two players that we have been impressed with so far and think could have a lot more left in them for the upcoming matches.

The Melbourne Renegades seem to find a way to win even if they have not been the most convincing. The West Indian duo of Andre Russell and Akeal Hosein helped them escape from a tricky situation in the previous match. Hosein has been brilliant with the ball and is also very useful with the bat.

We like the fact that the Renegades have Mujeeb ur Rahman and Kane Richardson in their lineup. These are two excellent T20 bowlers and give the Renegades a lot of flexibility with the ball.

Weather Report

There is no rain forecast in Hobart and that is excellent news. The temperatures should be quite comfortable as well.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Bellerive Oval always has some pace and bounce on offer. It also has some small boundaries that allow the batters to really go after the bowling. The average score is around 160 but that may be a bit higher at the start of the season.

Notable stats

The Impressive Patrick Dooley!

Dooley has picked up seven wickets in just eleven overs. He is also the most economical bowler for the Hobart Hurricanes so far. He is in great form and we suggest having him in your Dream11 team even though he is likely to be quite highly owned now.

Team News

Both teams are likely to go in with an unchanged eleven for this match.

Dream11 Prediction

The Hobart Hurricanes are a strong team and playing at home. The price that they are being offered at, though, is not very acceptable to us right now. With their top order not firing and the depth in the batting lineup not translating to massive scores, we think they are susceptible. The Melbourne Renegades have an excellent bowling attack and while their batting is not the best, it has done the job in the first three matches that they have played!

Top Picks

Patrick Dooley - Easily the best new bowler that BBL 12 has showcased so far. He has an excellent economy rate and picks up wickets for fun. His battle against Russell is going to be crucial.

Darcy Short and Ben McDermott - Both of these players are out form but they have ane excellent record while playing at the Bellerive Oval. They are not going to be very highly owned for this reason and could end up being useful differentiators.

Sam Harper - Another player that is going to be quite low-owned. He opens the batting and could end up playing a vital role for the Renegades.
