ENG vs AUS Match Preview

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett didn’t give the team the best of starts in the last match and will be looking to make amends. Duckett especially was found struggling against the new ball. Ollie Pope had a poor outing too. The middle order will likely remain the same too. Joe Root will be the key batsman for the hosts here and will look to put up strong partnerships with Harry Brook and Johnny Bairstow.

Ben Stokes seems to have regained much of his fitness and will be looking to contribute with the bat and the ball. Moeen Ali, who sat out for a couple of days due to injury in the last match is likely available for this game.

England has brought in young Rehan Ahmed as a reinforcement in the spin department. Veteran seamer James Anderson will lead the pace attack along with Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson.

Australia will be looking up to David Warner and Usman Khawaja to give them a good start here. Warner hasn’t been in the best of forms of late and will be hoping to get some runs under his belt here. Khawaja is in fine touch and was instrumental in giving the visitors an early lead in the series.

Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Alex Carey make up for a very strong middle order. Smith in particular has an excellent record on this ground and we can expect a big inning from him. The seam attack for Australia is one of the strongest in Test cricket and they are spoilt for choice when it comes to selection. In addition to skipper Pat Cummins, we will see 2 other seamers feature here along with all-rounder Cameron Green.

Nathan Lyon, who had an excellent outing in the last match will once again be the team's premier spinner here but is likely to be less effective as the pitch at Lord’s is more conducive for the quicker bowlers.

Weather Report

The weather is likely to be overcast for the first 3 days and there can be some showers, but the skies should clear up by the weekend.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Lord’s is likely to have a green top and the quicker bowlers will have a good time here. There will be some movement off the pitch as well as through the air. That said, once the batsmen are set, they will be able to play their shots. The average first-inning score here is around 310 runs.

Notable stats

Harry Brook: X Factor

Harry Brook has been a consistent performer in the middle order for England. In his 8 matches, he has scored 896 runs at an average of 74.66, including 4 centuries and 3 half-centuries.
