BAN vs IND Match Preview

Bangladesh's performances in the first two matches have followed a very similar pattern. The team has managed to bowl well and pick up early wickets before allowing India to get to a bigger total than expected. In return, Bangladesh's top order has not score many runs before being rescued and carried over the line by the lower order. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the hero for Bangladesh once more as scored a century at number 8 and then picked up two crucial wickets during the chase as well. Mahmudullah scored 77 as well and was integral to the partnership with Mehidy Hasan that eventually changed the course of the match.

Bangladesh will be hoping that its leading batters like Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim can also get into the act. With the Bangladeshi bowling at its best in home conditions, even an average performance by the batters has a good chance of turning into a match-winning one.

Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Shakib Al Hasan all give Bangladesh four quality bowling options.

India will be without Rohit Sharma in this match and we think that may be a good thing. It will allow them to play one out of Ishan Kishan, Rahul Tripathi, or Rajat Patidar and give them a chance. India's white-ball teams are looking tired and need an injection of youth.

Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have both struggled for runs so far. They will be under pressure to score in conditions that they are not the fondest of. Shreyas Iyer continues his brilliant ODI season and will be the premier wicket that Bangladesh is after.

KL Rahul at number five seems locked in for the time being as well.

Why Shardul Thakur was picked for this tour is anyone's guess but with injuries decimating the squad, he is also certain to play. In fact, India may be forced to play with five bowlers and add another batter to their lineup. Umran Malik, Mohammad Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar could be the five bowlers for India in this match.

The weather forecast for Chattogram on match day is excellent. There is no rain predicted and we should not have any interruptions.

Pitch Report

As far as the pitch goes, we are hoping for a surface that is slightly better than what we saw in Dhaka.

That could allow the batters to play with a bit more freedom and target a score of around 280-300 in this match.
