AUS vs ENG Match Preview

Australia picked up early wickets thanks to some very impressive bowling by Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc also managed to impress. Adam Zampa bowled intelligently with three wickets including the big one of Jos Buttler. We think Australia's bowling is not at its best just yet, though.

Fifties for Warner, Head, and Smith ensured that 287 was chased down with ease. There are batting options till number 8 and so Australia cannot be counted out in that regard but we do think they will be more vulnerable batting first because of their sedate approach.

England's bowling attack looked pedestrian in the previous match. There was no swing on offer and so bowlers like David Willey and Luke Wood were ineffective. No one apart from Olly Stone has that little bit of extra pace with which to trouble the batters.

Dawid Malan proved once more why he is ranked so high in white-ball cricket with a magnificent century in the previous match but no one else contributed.

Phil Salt and Jos Buttler looked good before getting out and we think they could score runs in this second match. The lack of runs from Jason Roy continues to be a problem and Sam Billings needs some runs as well.

Weather Report

The weather forecast for match day is quite good and we should not have any trouble getting a full game.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the SCG is generally quite good for batting but it can slow down as the match progresses. A bit of help for the spinners is also expected. We could see players like Zampa play a big role.

Notable stats

Not All Spinners Are Equal

Sydney is known to be excellent for spinners but not all kinds. While wrist-spinners have a wicket-taking average of just over 25 in ODI's at the SCG, finger-spinners have an average of nearly 60! Liam Dawson could be in a for a real test here.

Team News

There is an air of experimentation around the England camp and so we may see a few changes. Australia could continue unchanged, though.

Dream11 Prediction

We expect Australia to continue its dominance and win. We could see a high-scoring match as both teams have a strong batting lineup but Australia's bowlers are much more likely to make the early inroads.

Top Picks

Adam Zampa - Three wickets in the first match will put him in a good frame of mind. Also, the SCG has been kind to wrist spinners in the past. We think Zampa is a good player to have in your Dream11 teams for sure.

Steve Smith - Smith looked in great touch in the previous match and said it was the best he had felt in a long time. Starved of cricket, Smith's hunger would have only increased. He could be in line for another significant score.

Jos Buttler - Even though he did not make many runs, the ease with which he was batting was ominous. We will back him to make a big score and help our Dream11 teams in this match.
