As the 18th edition of the highly successful Indian Premier League commences this weekend, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their campaign on Sunday afternoon as they host the Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad were in scintillating form last year as they finished 2nd on the points table. They went on to reach the finals but were defeated by KKR. On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals win the inaugural season but the title has eluded them since then.
As both teams look to make a positive start, we are in for a thrilling encounter.

Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (WK), Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhinav Manohar, Pat Cummins (C), Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (C & WK), Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shimron Hetmeyer, Maheesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, Jofra Archer
Both teams have fully fit squads at their disposal.
If the matches played here in the last edition of the IPL are anything to go by, we can expect plenty of runs in this match. In the 6 games played here last season, the average first-inning score here was around 204 runs.
The toss will not play such a big role here as the pitch will likely remain the same throughout the match. If anything, it gets only better as the match progresses.
Since the match will be played in the afternoon, we expect plenty of sunshine with temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees.
We have to choose between Sanju Samson, Heinrich Klaasen, and Ishan Kishan here. While all of them are quality players, we are inclined to go with Sanju Samson and Heinrich Klaasen here. Sanju Samson had scored 531 runs last year at a strike rate of over 150. He is also pretty sharp behind the stumps, affecting a total of 98 dismissals in his IPL career.
Heinrich Klaasen, on the other hand, is an exceptional player with a fantastic ability to hit sixes. Since sixes get bonus Dream11 points, Klaasen is a solid pick as well.
Travis Head and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the natural choices here as both of them are quality batsmen capable of playing the big shots. One can also choose Shimron Hetmeyer for his scoring abilities during the death overs.
Jaiswal has been out of action for a long time and that can sometimes lead to players being lower-owned. The same is true for someone like Hetmyer.
Abhishek Sharma had an excellent outing last year, with both, the bat and the ball. We also recommend Wanindu Hasaranga, who is among the best all-rounders in the 20-over format. Riyan Parag has also performed well in a couple of seasons.
Mohammed Shami and Pat Cummins are our primary choices here. We are also picking up Maheesh Theekshana as a specialist spinner as he can pick up wickets once the ball gets softer.
Travis Head is our natural choice for the captain. He was in scintillating form last year as he scored 565 runs at an incredible strike rate of 191. He scored 4 half-centuries and a century in his 15 innings and has followed it up with some excellent performances in the international arena as well.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was not at his best last season but he remains Rajasthan’s key batsman. He has an excellent record in the IPL where he has scored 1607 runs at a strike rate of over 150.
Looking at the scores that this venue produced last year, we recommend to put together a team that has strong batsmen and all-rounders who can bat well. While the bowlers have enjoyed limited success here, the quicker bowlers can make early inroads with the new ball.
Abhishek Sharma has scored 617 Dream11 points in the previous 5 matches that he has played.
Riyan Parag (573) and Travis Head (567) in IPL 2024
Pat Cummins (18) in IPL 2024
Abhishek Sharma (42), Heinrich Klaasen (38), and Riyan Parag (33) in IPL 2024
Abhishek Sharma had a strike rate of 204.21 while Shimron Hetmyer scored at a strike rate of 163.76 last season
Abhishek Sharma only bowled 7 overs but his economy rate was an impressive 7.28 and he could bowl more this season
