The Royal Challengers Bangalore have started off well, especially when it comes to away matches. However, their record at home hasn’t been perfect over the last few matches. The team has lost 7 of its last 11 matches here, including both the games played this year.
Nevertheless, it is just a matter of time before they start turning things around, and this could be the match where it starts.
The Punjab Kings on the other hand, have been a bit inconsistent and are currently placed in the middle of the table. With them reaching the halfway mark in the group stages, PBKS will be eager to get some wins under its belt and climb up the ladder.

Lockie Ferguson from PBKS has been ruled out of the entire tournament. He was replaced by Xavier Bartlett in the last match. RCB is likely to have a fully fit squad available for selection.
The Chinnaswamy Stadium is known to churn out flat surfaces and we are expecting a similar pitch for this match as well. There are likely to be some dry patches on the surface where the ball tends to hold once it pitches but once the batsmen settle down, playing shots will get easier. The outfield here is pretty quick as well.
The last few days in Bangalore have seen light showers and there is a forecast for some drizzles in Friday as well. Nevertheless, we are unlikely to see a rain-shortened match.
Phil Salt and Prabhsimran Singh have both batted well so far and are in good form. They both make it to our playing XI.
Since the pitch in Bangalore is usually good to bat, we are picking up quality batsmen for our team. These include Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Rajat Patidar.
We would have liked the all-rounders to have played better cricket but they haven’t been in the best of forms so far. Marco Jansen and Krunal Pandya are our top picks.
It will be important for the bowlers to bowl a good line and length if they want to be successful here. Yuzvendra Chahal is our go-to spinner. Josh Hazlewood and Arshdeep Singh also make it thanks to their wicket-taking abilities.
Virat Kohli has been RCBs most successful batsman this year. He is among the most prolific run-scorers in the league and is the best person to lead our team.
We are picking Shreyas Iyer as our vice-captain. He has been pretty consistent in the middle order and has been a key player for the Punjab Kings.
This year’s IPL has seen some big scores and it is but natural that we will be selecting a team that is skewed in favor of the bat. That said, the previous match showed that having a strong bowling unit is equally important especially if one has to defend a small target. We have therefore tried to include wicket-taking bowlers in our team.
Phil Salt has collected 372 points from the last 5 matches at an average of 74 points per game.
Shreyas Iyer (250), Virat Kohli (248), Priyansh Arya (218)
Josh Hazlewood (9), Krunal Pandya (8), Arshdeep Singh (8)
Shreyas Iyer (20), Priyansh Arya (16), Phil Salt (13)
Priyansh Arya (216), Shreyas Iyer (204.91), Tim David (195.74)
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar (7.84), Liam Livingstone (8.44), Glenn Maxwell (8.46)
