Peshawar Zalmi, with world-class stars like Babar Azam, will be looking to have another strong group stage this year to set themselves up for the back end of the tournament. Their biggest issue will be handling the pressure moments better.
Quetta Gladiators essentially sneaked through the back door last year after ending fourth. They will be looking to have some more convincing results this year. Rilee Rossouw had a brilliant 2024 LPL in Sri Lanka, winning the competition with Jaffna Kings. He will want to be at the forefront of another domestic T20 title in Asia.
Expectations for both franchises will be high again after reaching the knockouts in the previous edition.

Both teams will be going guns blazing against each other with fully fit squads
The hot conditions will exaggerate the already batting-friendly conditions at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The average first innings total of 197 and highest score of 262 for three in 20 overs highlight how free flowing the pitch can be for betters.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore could be a solid choice for this spot based on his recent form in the ILT20. His last seven T20s have yielded scores of 1, 40, 91 not out, 39, 54 not out, 29 and 42. Mohammad Haris, also of Peshawar Zalmi, could be worth pondering. He hit 41 runs against New Zealand in the third T20I of the national team’s recent tour to New Zealand.
The three batters who may stand out are Saim Ayub, Saud Shakeel and Rilee Rossouw. These left-handers could do damage. Ayub hit back-to-back T20I scores of 98 not out and 31 against South Africa. Shakeel hit 88 against the Qalandars in his third-last PSL innings. Rossouw has scored over 9000 T20 career runs.
Hussain Talat and Mohammad Wasim are both powerful bowling all-rounders. Talat has taken 74 T20 wickets. Wasim has over 100 T20 wickets with three four-wicket hauls.
Arif Yaqoob, Mohammad Amir and Sufiyan Muqeem may be the star of the bowling show. Yaqoob has six wickets in his last three domestic T20s, including a four-wicket haul. Left-armer Amir has 73 PSL wickets. Muqeem took bowling figures of two for six in two overs against New Zealand in his only T20I of the series.
Saim Ayub could turn out to be the best option here. As a batter, his PSL record reads 800 runs with seven half-centuries. He is handy as an off-spinner too.
Saud Shakeel has played one season of PSL cricket, but his returns were decent. He has two half-centuries from his 2024 PSL season. He also hit recent domestic T20 scores of 73 and 76 against Lahore Region Blues and Islamabad Region respectively.
The nature of the pitch means runs aplenty will be scored. You may have more freedom with your choice of batters because most batters may come to the party, but the local Pakistani players could be worth picking in these conditions.
The pacers may be most effective with the new ball. When thinking about your bowlers, think about which bowlers may offer the most value with the new ball.
Faheem Ashraf leads the way from last season with 442 Dream11 points
Babar Azam topped the run-scoring charts with 569 runs in the 2024 PSL
Abrar Ahmed took 16 wickets last season for Quetta Gladiators
Left-hander Saim Ayub sent the ball straight over the boundary for six on 21 occurrences
Having been the highest six-hitter between the sides, it should be obvious that Saim Ayub’s strike rate would also be up there. He had a batting strike rate of 157.53 in 2024
Mehran Mumtaz was economical for the Zalmi in his short 2024 PSL season of five games. He ended with a bowling economy of 6.63
