New Zealand seems to be on a roll in the last few months, playing excellent cricket across formats. After an inspiring performance in the Champions Trophy, the Black Caps continue to play well despite missing some of their first-choice players. As the team management looks to groom new players for the next ODI World Cup, the relatively young squad will be eager to prove its mettle.
However, the same cannot be said about Pakistan. The team has struggled to perform well as a unit despite playing under familiar conditions and faced an unceremonious exit from the Champions Trophy, where they were the hosts. With some of the senior players back from a break, the visitors will look to turn a new leaf here.

Tom Latham has suffered an injury and is going to be unavailable for this entire series.
Napier has usually produced balanced surfaces. The bowlers and the batsmen will get equal opportunities to contribute and we can expect an engaging contest between the bat and the ball. The weather is likely to remain cloudy and that might be an advantage for the seamers in particular.
Mohammad Rizwan and Tom Latham are quality batsmen and we recommend picking both of them for your team.
Will Young and Daryl Mitchell are the obvious choices here. Babar Azam, though not in the best of forms, is a quality batsman who can turn the tide single-handedly.
Agha Salman was Pakistan’s best player in the T20 series. Michael Bracewell has also been a consistent performer for New Zealand.
Jacob Duffy had an excellent T20 series. We also recommend William O’Rourke given his ability to swing the ball. Sufiyan Muqeem can be included as a spinner.
Michael Bracewell is our choice for captaincy in this game. He is a genuine all-rounder who can contribute equally with the bat and the ball, especially on home turf.
Salman Agha has been in excellent form during the recent T20 series as he scored 167 runs. He also has a decent record with the ball in the ODIs.
Napier has thrown some exciting matches in the past. The balanced nature of the pitch makes the contest more exciting as neither the bat nor the ball has an upper hand. We recommend you to give equal weightage to both, the batsmen and the bowlers while picking up your squad. Selecting quality all-rounders will be an advantage here.
Salman Agha has 546 points in the last 5 ODIs at an average of 109 points per game.
Salman Agha (280), Mark Chapman (250), Mohammad Rizwan (220)
Sufiyan Muqeem (9), Michael Bracewell (8), Jacob Duffy (8)
