We are just over a week into the IPL and we have already seen some engaging contests so far. The Mumbai Indians and the Lucknow Super Giants haven’t had the best of starts to their campaign and find themselves in the bottom half of the points table. Nevertheless, there are plenty of matches to be played and both teams will be eager to earn points.
The Mumbai Indians have been slow starters over the past few seasons and it has been a similar story this year as well. The team earned their first win of the season earlier this week and will hope to build up on the winning momentum. On the other hand, Lucknow will hope to take full advantage of the home leg.

There are no new injuries to report from either squad
The pitch at the Ekana Stadium, while being good to bat on, is also helpful to the bowlers, especially during the first half. The ball stops a bit after pitching, making it difficult for the batsmen to time the ball. There is also plenty of grass on the surface, allowing the seamers to get some movement with the new ball. The surface gets easier to bat as the match progresses.
The weather is likely to be warm but will be on the dry side and we are unlikely to see much dew in the outfield.
Nicholas Pooran and Ryan Rickleton have done well for their respective teams and have found a place in our playing XI.
The top-order batting from both sides has been rather inconsistent. We are including Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma due to their past performances in the IPL, while Mitchell Marsh also finds a place thanks to his good batting in the first two games.
While there are some good all-rounders playing for both sides, there has been no standout performer so far. Hardik Pandya is currently the most reliable among the lot.
The bowlers are likely to play an important role in this match. The seamers have generally enjoyed better success here compared to the slower bowlers. Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are among the most experienced in the IPL. Ashwani Kumar also finds a place thanks to his brilliant debut.
Nicholas Pooran is our choice here. His powerful strokeplay and consistent batting make him a perfect candidate to lead the team.
There are quite a few players who can be selected for this slot. However, we are tempted to go with Hardik Pandya thanks to his all-round abilities.
The Ekana Stadium is different compared to the other venues in this league as it does help the bowlers. The seamers who bend their backs will get success here and picking up experienced seamers is the key. With all-rounders not playing up to the mark, one should pick up quality batsmen who fit in the middle order.
Nicholas Pooran (765) points in the last 5 games at an average of 153 points per game.
Nicholas Pooran (343), Ryan Rickleton (158), Mitchell Marsh (126)
Shardul Thakur (6), Digvesh Rathi (5), Ashwani Kumar (4)
Nicholas Pooran (15), Mitchell Marsh (8), Suryakumar Yadav (7)
Abdul Samad (245), Nicholas Pooran (219), Mitchell Marsh (182)
Hardik Pandya (6.50), Trent Boult (7.63), Mitchell Santner (7.76)
