Sylhet International Cricket Stadium

It has changed a lot since then, having been significantly upgraded in time to be a host venue for the 2014 ICC World T20, with the 2014 ICC Women's World Twenty20 also held here. 

Bangladesh play fixtures at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, which held its debut Test in November 2018, shortly before it hosted an ODI match for the first time. 

The stadium has a maximum capacity of 18,000 and is the home of the Bangladesh Premier League side Sylhet Royals. 

Tamim Iqbal made history in an ODI here when he became the first Bangladesh batsman to score 7,000 runs in the format. 

In the very next game, he was then a contributor to a record Bangladesh partnership of 292. 

At the other end was Liton Das, who scored 176 runs off 143 balls and thus took the record for the highest ODI score by any Bangladeshi batsman. 

Meg Lanning of Australia became the first player to score a T20 century in a WT20I on the ground, which was previously known as Sylhet Divisional Stadium. 

The cricket ground has seen five batters pass 300 runs in T20s so far: Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Zakir Hasan, Mohammad Mithun and Anamul Haque.

Sylhet International Cricket Stadium has a good batting surface that encourages high scores. 

Although in many years T20s here have seen fairly low scoring, things have since changed. 

Data from Cricmetric shows that the grounds had an average first innings T20 score of just over 150 in 2024, but games in 2025 have seen higher scoring. 

There appears to be little advantage in batting first or chasing down totals on this ground. 

Chasing sides have won 51.7% of T20 games played at here compared to 48.3% of teams batting first winning the match. 

Fast bowlers have been effective in T20s here, with the lowest bowling averages even if their economy rate can be on the high side. 

Data from Cricmetric shows that leg-break bowlers struggle to take wickets at this venue, so the pitch report may be unfriendly to them.
