Officially home to the Bangladesh Premier League side Khulna Tigers - though they often play elsewhere - the ground opened in 2004 in time to help host that year's Under-19 World Cup.
The Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium became the seventh international ground in Bangladesh and can host more than 15,000 cricket fans.
Only a handful of internationals have been played at the venue so far, but more are expected to be awarded to the Khulna stadium in the coming years.
The ground is named after a Bangladeshi politician and was previously known as Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium.
Abul Hasan is responsible for one of the most memorable moments in the stadium's history, having made a century on his Test debut here despite coming in at number 10 in the order.
The great Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan followed in the footsteps of Ian Botham and Imran Khan here when he scored a century and took at least 10 wickets in the same Test.
In one of the few Tests played in Khulna, West Indies hit 648/9d on their way to a 10-wicket win, with Marlon Samuels scoring 260. Darren Bravo and Shivnarine Chanderpaul made centuries.
H Masakadza and Sabbir Rahman are the only two players to have scored more than 100 runs in T20 internationals played at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium so far.
With not much cricket having been played at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in the past few years, the data available is minimal.
But figures from Cricmetric show that the average first innings score at the venue for T20s during 2016 was over 174, so there is the potential to make large totals on the ground.
The Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium pitch report shows batting first is definitely the way to go at the toss, with chasing sides only able to win 25% of T20s played here so far.
Leg-break bowlers have both the lowest economy rate and the best bowling average in T20s here, which captains and coaches should consider when picking teams to play in Khulna.
