One of India's oldest cricket pitches, MA Chidambaram Stadium is a truly historic venue in the country. Constructed all the way back in 1916, the ground is often known as the Chepauk Stadium.
The MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is named after former BCCI president M. A. Chidambaram, hosts the Tamil Nadu cricket team as well as the IPL side Chennai Super Kings. Indian Premier League finals have even been played at the stadium, while Test cricket has been played here since the 1930s, with England becoming the first international visitors to the Chepauk Stadium.
Over 80 internationals have taken place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and it is also a host venue for the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Leading up to the 2011 Cricket World Cup, the ground had a major regeneration project in order to bring its standards up to the 21st century. More regeneration work then took place in the buildup to the 2023 Cricket World Cup, with a series of matches played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium during the international tournament.
