Barsapara Cricket Stadium

Also known as the Assam Cricket Association Stadium (ACA Stadium), and officially titled the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium, the Barsapara Cricket Stadium has a large capacity of approximately 40,000 spectators.

The biggest cricket ground in the north-east of the country, Barsapara Cricket Stadium opened in 2012 and held its first T20 international five years later, with Australia the visitors. 

ODIs and women's international cricket matches have also taken place here, but the ground is yet to host its maiden Test. 

The Barsapara Cricket Stadium has played host to the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, but it is not a major IPL venue in most seasons of the T20 tournament. More matches could be held there in order to bring the IPL to the region more regularly. 

Named after a famous musician and filmmaker from Assam, the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium is an hour away from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. 

South Africa star David Miller hit the first T20I century on this ground when he made 106 not out, with India's Ruturaj Gaikwad also achieving the feat.

Barsapara Cricket Stadium might not host a lot of IPL games, but other types of fixtures played on this ground can give us a clue as to what to expect. 

The Barsapara Cricket Stadium pitch report shows a batting-friendly surface where high scores can be possible, with India having cleared 230 in a Twenty20 game here in the past. 

South Africa have also successfully chased down more than 220 in a T20 at the grounds, demonstrating that even a big score is not out of reach for teams batting second. 

North-east India's largest cricket ground has a pitch known for offering little help to bowlers. 

Evening matches can be affected by levels of dew in the surface, which can make it harder to score. As a result, it is often a good idea for captains to bat first if they can win the toss. 

Jason Behrendorff of Australia took figures of 4-21 in the four overs he bowled against India in 2017, so these types of bowlers can certainly thrive at the ground.
