ZIM vs SCT Match Prediction - Jul 04, 2023

As just the top two nations in the Super Six will find a place in the upcoming ODI Cricket World Cup, the tension is mounting. Currently, Sri Lanka (8 points) and Zimbabwe (6 points) are leading the group, but Scotland is right behind with 4 points. This match has big consequences for each team heading forward.

Zimbabwe vs. Scotland will take place at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, on July 4th. Don't forget to check out all our cricket betting tips for important matches.

ZIM vs SCT Team Previews

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe was undefeated for a long time with five straight wins, until they met Sri Lanka in the last game and lost convincingly by 9 wickets (101 balls remaining). It was a poor performance from Zimbabwe by only scoring 165 runs, and only taking one wicket from Sri Lanka’s innings.

There’s no doubt that Williams has been the standout batter for Zimbabwe so far, as he’s scoring a huge 588 runs, thanks largely to his 174 effort against the U.S.A. He was the top scorer against Sri Lanka with 56 runs, which is really saying something with that game.

Raza (291) and Ervine (257) have batted well enough to help Williams, although neither has been truly incredible in the last two games. Zimbabwe can’t rely solely on Williams if they are to win against Scotland.

Ngarava (13/288) and Raza (9/234) have looked good in the tournament so far for Zimbabwe’s bowling attack, but Raza needs to pick up his effort level, as he’s gone just 1/84 in his last two games. Ngarava will be the biggest issue for Scotland during this match.

Zimbabwe Playing 11

Joylord Gumbie, Craig Ervine, Innocent Kaia, Wesley Madhevere, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Wellington Masakadza, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, Tendai Chatara.

Scotland

Scotland has performed far better than anyone expected and is currently 2-1 in the Super Six round. Although the loss to Sri Lanka is no surprise, Scotland did pick up huge wins versus Oman and West Indies, the latter of which means that WI will not find a spot in the World Cup.

McMullen (224 runs) and Berrington (220 runs) have been in charge of the batting thus far with great results, and are the main reasons why Scotland is looking terrific in this round. McMullen was simply outstanding against Oman with 136, and was the key factor versus the Windies with 69 runs.

Although he has 220 runs, Berrington has scored only 23 runs in his last two games, so Scotland will require more from him if they’re to make a serious challenge against Zimbabwe. Still, surprising players have popped up for Scotland in their time of need, as both Leask (91* versus Ireland) and Cross (74* versus West Indies) have had vital roles in Scotland’s success.

For Scotland, Greaves (12/178) and McMullen (10/130) have proven to be the squad's most consistent bowlers. Without McMullen's outstanding 3/32, the Scots may not have defeated the Windies. It’s good to see bowlers like Watt (8/199) chipping in as well, as he has been an important aspect of Scotland's bowling lineup to assist Greaves and McMullen.

Scotland Playing 11

Christopher McBride, Matthew Cross, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Richie Berrington, Tom Mackintosh, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole.

Pitch and Conditions

The very low bounce and minimal movement of this pitch make it a favourite among batters, while skilled spinners have also had good turn in the past. It's expected to be a high-scoring game because 400-plus totals have been reached in this venue before.

ZIM vs SCT Betting Tips

It’s been a long time since these teams played each other, with the last time being a tied match in 2018. The 10Cric odds for Scotland are excellent, and this is a good chance to make a big bet with a solid money return.

Zimbabwe have played well against teams below them, but really struggled against Sri Lanka and have a lot of reliability on top performers like Ngarava and Williams. Should these players not have a good game, then the door is wide open for Scotland to win. Greaves and McMullen need to shine for the Scots, but a victory is possible.

Bet on Scotland to win.

The odds are surprisingly good for McMullen, considering that he's the top scorer for the team and has been batting extremely well. He's had 224 runs so far, but more importantly, plays well against tough teams, like his 69 runs versus West Indies.

    Top Batter Zimbabwe: Sikander Raza

The odds for Williams are barely worth it, which is why we recommend Raza. He's been great in the tournament so far, and has scored big runs versus strong opponents, such as 102* against Netherlands and 68 versus West Indies. Look for him to have a big role in this match.

    Top Bowler Scotland: Chris Greaves

    4/1

You can get a great return for betting on Greaves, so now's the time. It's strange why his odds are so good, as he's played incredibly well in the tournament, with solid figures of 12/178 and the ability to take over games with his impressive spin bowling.
